The Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB) Scholarship is a financial aid program provided by the Indonesian Government for international students from developing countries. The scholarship supports students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degrees at various universities in Indonesia.

Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships Details
The KNB Scholarship offers students the opportunity to study at 31 partner universities in Indonesia while experiencing the country’s rich culture and diversity.
The program aims to enhance the research capacity of Indonesian higher education institutions and contribute to the government’s strategy of increasing the number of world-class universities in Indonesia.
For 2025, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in collaboration with 31 host universities will accept 222 scholars:
- 30 Bachelor’s degree students
- 162 Master’s degree students
- 30 Doctoral degree students
Eligibility Criteria for the 2025 Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships
For Bachelor’s Degree Applicants
- Must be 21 years old or younger.
- Must have a high school diploma (submit scanned certificate and academic transcripts in English or Bahasa).
- Bachelor’s degree holders are NOT eligible for the undergraduate scholarship.
- Must have an English proficiency test score:
- TOEFL ITP: 477
- TOEFL IBT: 53
- IELTS: 5.5
- TOEIC: 510
- Exemption applies to applicants from English-speaking countries or those enrolled in English-taught programs (proof required).
- Must submit a recommendation letter from:
- The Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate General.
- Employer/immediate supervisor (if employed).
- Previous school (academic recommendation letter).
- Must provide a valid passport (valid for at least two years).
For Master’s Degree Applicants
- Must be 35 years old or younger.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree (submit scanned certificate and transcripts in English or Bahasa).
- Master’s degree holders are NOT eligible for the Master’s scholarship.
- Must have an English proficiency test score:
- TOEFL ITP: 500
- TOEFL IBT: 61
- IELTS: 6.0
- TOEIC: 575
- Exemption applies to applicants from English-speaking countries or those enrolled in English-taught programs (proof required).
- Must submit a recommendation letter from:
- The Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate General.
- Employer/immediate supervisor (if employed).
- Previous school (academic recommendation letter).
- Must provide a valid passport (valid for at least two years).
For Doctoral Degree Applicants
- Must be 40 years old or younger.
- Must have a Master’s degree (submit scanned certificate and transcripts in English or Bahasa).
- Doctorate degree holders are NOT eligible for the PhD scholarship.
- Must submit a recommendation letter from a potential research supervisor at a KNB Scholarship partner university.
- Must provide a statement of purpose, which includes:
- The reason for studying in Indonesia.
- Research interests and future academic plans (dissertation proposal).
- Must have an English proficiency test score:
- TOEFL ITP: 530
- TOEFL IBT: 71
- IELTS: 6.0
- TOEIC: 640
- Exemption applies to applicants from English-speaking countries or those enrolled in English-taught programs (proof required).
- Must submit a recommendation letter from:
- The Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate General.
- Employer/immediate supervisor (if employed).
