About the 2023 SPDC JV Regional LiveWIRE
LiveWIRE Nigeria is a youth enterprise development programme supported by SPDC JV. The programme aims to inspire, encourage and support young people aged 18-35 to start their own businesses.

- The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), operator of the NNPC/SPDC/TotalEnergies/NAOC Joint Venture (SPDC-JV) announces the commencement of the SPDC-JV 2023 Regional LiveWIRE Nigeria Programme which focuses on youth enterprise development.
- The programme aims to inspire, encourage and support young people aged 18-35 with training and financing to start their own businesses.
The Objectives of 2023 SPDC JV Regional LiveWIRE
- Enable youths to establish businesses by exposing them to business planning and management skills through the ‘Become a Successful Business Owner Course’.
- Provide business start-up grants for candidates with the best business plans.
- Enable successful candidates to present their business plans to third parties such as financial institutions and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs).
- Provide a volunteer mentoring programme for successful candidates.
Programme Content:
- Pre-start up: – Value and Organize Yourself (VOY) Bright Ideas workshop (BI)
- Become a Successful Business Owner (Business Planning & Management)
- Value Chain workshop
- Business Start-up (How to access finance & technology)
- Post Start-up (Mentoring and Market linkages)
Requirements for NNPC / SPDC – JV Regional Livewire Nigeria Programme 2023
Applications are Invited from:
- Applicants who are indigenes of Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Cross River or Edo States and who must be residents in their state of origin.
- Must possess a University degree or HND in any discipline. Must not be in paid employment.
- Must have an innovative business idea.
- Must desire to own and manage a business.
- Must not be a business owner for more than three (3) years. Applicants must not have previously benefitted from any Shell Community Skills & Enterprise Development Social Investment programme such as Shell Regional LiveWIRE, Community Skills Training, Agricultural programme, etc.
- Business Plan to relate to specified value chain sectors/areas, i.e.:
- Agriculture
- Clean Energy Solutions/Oil and Gas Social Enterprise
- Manufacturing
- Retail and Wholesale
- ICT and Telecommunications.

The objectives for the LiveWIRE Programme in Nigeria are to;
- Provide intensive entrepreneurship training
- Link successful candidates to third parties like financial Institutions and NGOs.
- Raise business awareness amongst final-year university students to encourage them to see starting a business as a valid career option.
- Support youths to discover and develop business ‘ideas’ through Bright Ideas workshops.
- Make available to youths, business planning, and management guidelines and skills through the ‘Become A Successful Owner Manager Course’ (BSOM).
- Provide business start-up grant for candidates with the best business plan
- Run awards for best business plans, of which the prize gives access to micro-credit facilities, through third parties like banks, NGOs, and allied financial institutions.
- Support young entrepreneurs to formalize their businesses
- Run an award for young people who have sustained a business for 1 to 3 years and continue the award on an annual basis.
- Provide a volunteer mentoring program for those who have completed the training course and decide to pursue starting their own business. Mentors can be drawn from oil and gas, banking, social voluntary sectors, etc.
- Provide an opportunity for young people to participate in global award programs
- Provides automatic membership of LiveWIRE alumni
