How to Apply for 2024/2025 PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme (MS& Ph.D) for Universities in the United The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the federal government agency mandated to develop indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, invites applications from candidates suitably qualified for Masters and Ph.D. abroad in specific fields. programs at selected institutions under its PTDF Overseas Scholarship Program for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The program has been developed to allow graduates to benefit from a diverse pool of knowledge and facilities offered by world-class institutions across the globe. Under this program, applicants are encouraged to apply through the PTDF for specific programs at partner institutions. The price includes the provision of air tickets, payment of health insurance, payment of tuition and bench fees (if applicable) and the award of scholarships to cover accommodation and living costs.

For the 2024/2025 award, applications will be restricted to PTDF partner universities in the UK, Germany, France and Malaysia where the Foundation is confident that the high standards of the scholarship can be maintained and that the objectives of the program will be better served. .

Selection process, criteria and requirements
PTDF scholarships are highly competitive and only exceptional applicants in all fields are selected.

Based on the submitted qualifications, the top candidates in each category from each state will be invited to an interview, where a selection committee will be set up to assess the applications based on the following criteria:

Academic merit demonstrated by the quality of degrees, complete transcripts and other acquired professional qualifications
Relevant publications to be referenced by the candidate (PhD candidates only)
Members of professional organisations
The viability and relevance of the study/research plan.
Relevance of previous studies to the oil and gas industry and the proposed course/research

 

Master’s Requirements

A minimum of an upper second class qualification (2.1) in their first degree or a lower second class qualification (2.2) with relevant industry experience
Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
Must have computer skills
Possession of 5 O/level credits, including English language and mathematics.
Statement of purpose (max 500 words) stating the reason(s) for the proposed study, its relevance to industry and its expected impact on national development.
Applicants must have a National Identity Number (NIN) and must have it verified (NIMC verification fee applies) before applying for the scholarship.

PhD Requirements

Must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC)
Must have computer skills
Possession of 5 O/level credits, including English language and mathematics.
A minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2) in their first degree and a good postgraduate qualification
A research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (no more than five pages) that includes: topic, introduction, objective, method and method of data collection.

Necessary documents

Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach them to their online application form:
First degree certificate or statement of results
NYSC Discharge Certificate
WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results and PIN codes on the application forms to enable PTDF to view the O’level results on the relevant website.
Last ID photo
Identification letter for local government
Master’s Certificate (PhD candidates only)
Proof of membership in professional associations
Also note the following:
The scholarship is for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The scholarship is limited to PTDF-approved courses at PTDF partner institutions.
Scholarships will only be awarded for studies relevant to the mandate of the PTDF; Applicants may be disqualified from applying to programs not relevant to the oil and gas industry.

Candidates submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
Applicants who have been sponsored by the Foundation for one scholarship category (MSc/PhD) cannot submit another application for the same category.
Candidates who pass the first round of selection will be invited to attend the interview with their transcripts; therefore, all candidates are advised to prepare their transcript in advance.

The application deadline is Monday March 18, 2024 (six weeks from the date of this publication).
