Enhancing Capacity for Sustainable Development: The African Union’s Internship Program. The African Union, conceived as a distinctive Pan-African continental entity, has the responsibility of propelling Africa’s swift integration and enduring development through the promotion of unity, solidarity, cohesion, and cooperation among African nations and peoples, alongside fostering a New Partnership Worldwide.

Located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, its headquarters serve as the nerve center for its operations.

To realize its objectives, the African Union is committed to bolstering its operational capabilities, particularly within its organizational framework.

To this end, the African Union Commission is inviting applications from individuals hailing from Member States for its Internship Program.

The program aims to familiarize participants with the intricacies of the AU early in their professional journeys while concurrently enhancing their personal and professional competencies.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various relevant sectors within an intercultural environment. Additionally, the AU stands to benefit from the expertise and skills of individuals in key areas, potentially grooming them for future leadership roles within Africa.

Eligibility Criteria To Apply for African Union (AU) 2024 Summer Internship:

  • Currently enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program or possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in a related field
  • National of an African Union Member State
  • Full-time student in the final year of Bachelor’s or graduate program
  • Proficient in at least one African Union working language (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese)
  • Maximum age of thirty-two (32) at the time of selection
  • Demonstrates high moral conduct and integrity
  • No record of serious criminal offenses
  • No prior work experience required

Terms and Conditions:

  • The African Union does not provide financial assistance for travel, accommodation, or living expenses
  • Reasonable efforts will be made to assist interns in obtaining entry and residence visas
  • Interns are not entitled to compensation for travel expenses
  • Internship duration is three (3) months, renewable once
  • Interns must have individual insurance coverage throughout the internship
