ELEME CONSULTATIVE FORUM BERATES FORMER LAWMAKER, IGWE AFORJI OVER COMMENTS ON THE SIMPLIFIED MOVEMENT IN ELEME.
The Eleme Consultative Forum wishes to express its concern regarding the recent remarks made by former House of Assembly member Mr. Aforji Igwe Obe about Chief Amb. Oji Ngofa, the leader of the Simplified Movement in Eleme. It is disheartening to witness a former “Honorable” make statements that tarnish his own reputation, particularly when he labels Amb. Ngofa as greedy and resorts to derogatory language. Such comments only serve to underscore the troubling direction he has taken.
As a seasoned politician and self-proclaimed problem solver, Mr. Aforji should take responsibility for his actions instead of lamenting his circumstances. Has he forgotten the circumstances surrounding his employment at Indorama or how his tenure as an assembly member raised concerns about his integrity and the representation of the Eleme people in state affairs? If not for Amb. Oji Ngofa’s efforts to restore our political dignity, we may have been marginalized.
It is imperative for Mr. Aforji to recognize his missteps and extend a genuine apology to the people of Eleme, especially to Chief Hon. Brain Gokpa, Comrade Agba Nwanji, and the youth of Eleme who have shown him support. Regrettably, individuals like Mr. Aforji often align themselves with those seeking to exploit Rivers State for personal gain, demonstrating a troubling disregard for our community and its well-being.
The Eleme Consultative Forum urges the Leader of the Eleme Simplified Movement, Amb. Oji Ngofa, the upcoming Executive Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Chief Hon. Brain Gokpa, and the general public to disregard the comments made by the former assembly member.
We acknowledge the frustration that has driven him to make such remarks, but we commend the Governor of Rivers State for highlighting the urgent need for a psychiatric hospital. This facility is crucial for addressing the challenges faced by those whose shortcomings have led them down a difficult path. We believe it is an essential step in tackling the current issues within the state.
