THE FOOLERY AND HYPOCRISY OF OPPOSITION POLITICIANS IN RIVERS STATE ~ D. H ELUKE
YESTERDAY, they navigated all nooks and crannies of Rivers State marketing Sir Siminalayi Fubara as the best governorship candidate ( as it were) before the 2023 general elections. There was nothing left undone by Oluwa ( in the baritone voice of Senator Dino Melaye) to install Sim as a governor. The previous government reinvoked myriads of EXECUTIVE ORDERS which strangulated the opposition candidates ( then ) – Pastor Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ), Senator Magnus Ngei Abe of the Social Democratic Party ( SDP ) among many others from holding their campaigns and other democratic programmes . To worsen matters , many opposition politicians were declared WANTED few hours to the general elections. All these undemocratic and tyrannical antics and antecedents of Nyesom Wike were employed to weaken opposition and soften the ground of electoral victory for his preferred candidate and godson. In all, his biddings came to pass as Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) was DECLARED winner of the election in Rivers State. When it was time to form his government , Mr. Oluwa practically nominated and imposed all officers working for the governor ( Chief of Staff, Chief Security Officer, Chief Details, Commissioners , Secretary to the Government, Advisers, principal officers and members of the legislative arm etc). The demigod was also in charge of the internally generated revenue ( IGR) of the state . While all these were going on , Sim died in silence while the Rivers State people suffered. At a time , he refused the last order ( perhaps to donate his liver and kidneys). Here , hell was let loose and Rivers State is now liberated .
TODAY, they jumped ship and the camp became polarised as the attempt to impeach the governor failed woefully and flatly on 30th October,2023. This incident had attracted plethora of litigations and in almost every 24/7 , there is one judicial pronouncement or the other concerning the legitimacy of the new assembly led by Rt. Hon. Oko -Jumbo after the defection of former assembly members loyal to the FCT Minister. On 11th December,2023 , the former speaker , Martins Amaewhule read out their defection letters on the hallowed chambers during a plenary session. They were joyously received at the polo club by the COURT-BARRED Tony Okocha faction of the APC Rivers State. There is an affidavit deposed to announce this defection. However, they have turned around in SELF-DENIALS that they never defected . They bark now to cause commotion everywhere in the State . Before the expiration of tenures of former Council Chairmen and Councillors on 17th June ,2024 , they challenged the governor to conduct a local government election. They celebrated Supreme Court of Nigeria ORDER on local government financial autonomy and conduct of Local Government Area elections but boycotted same when it was time. There is a valid court judgement against Chief Tony Okocha but he still parades himself as APC CTC Chairman in Rivers State. The purported PDP RIVERS congresses were stopped by a court order but they went ahead with same .
NOW, the council election which they vowed to stop in collusion with our new political party under KAYODE EGBETOKUN has come and gone. On 6th day of October, 2024 , new chairmen were inaugurated and Council Secretariats unsealed by members of the new party. Our worries stemmed from the arson, wanton destruction and killings of 7th October,2024 by the Pro- Wike group as video evidence abound to substantiate the claims. As a proactive and AI governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has inaugurated a 7- man judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the arson and other senseless and nefarious acts of the miscreants.This is a welcome development.
IN CONCLUSION, the one billion dollars questions on the lips of Rivers State people are what do they ( Wike & his wicked cabal) want from Rivers State? He was a Council Chairman, Chief of Staff, Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Governor (2015-2023) and a serving minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Do they want the livers and kidneys of all of us ? Who enforces court orders or judicial pronouncements ? Is it Wike ? How many court orders or judicial pronouncements did he obey ? It does appear there are more demented and clueless people within his circle. LET THE LIBERATION CHANTS CONTINUE IN RIVERS STATE!
