The Lagos State Scholarship and Bursary Awards are now open for applications from students who are indigenes of Lagos State.

The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board (LSSB) has formally declared the opening of the application window for the 2022/2023 academic session’s Bursary and Scholarship schemes.

Application forms for both Bursary and Scholarship categories became available for purchase starting Thursday, June 1st, 2023, and will close by midnight on Friday, June 30th, 2023.

Lagos State Scholarship Board 2025 Program Details

The Lagos State Scholarship Board has opened applications for the 2024/2025 Bursary and Scholarship Awards, which are exclusively for Lagos State indigenes.

The Scholarship Board, established in February 1968 shortly after Lagos State was created, oversees bursary disbursements, scholarships, and other educational assistance programs on behalf of the state government.

Lagos State Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

This opportunity is specifically for Lagos State indigenes enrolled in accredited tertiary institutions across the country.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be fully admitted into a recognized tertiary institution on a full-time basis

  • Be a confirmed indigene of Lagos State through paternity

Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship Applicants

In addition to the general requirements, scholarship applicants must:

  • Be enrolled full-time in a tertiary institution

  • Be a paternally verified indigene of Lagos State

  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 (for undergraduates) or a Second Class Upper (2.1) for postgraduates

  • Technical Colleges: ₦100,000

  • Polytechnics/Colleges of Education: ₦200,000

  • Undergraduate (First Degree): ₦200,000

  • Master’s Degree: ₦300,000

  • Doctorate (PhD): ₦400,000

Current Local Bursary Rates:

For Lagos State University (LASU) Students:

  • Freshers: ₦35,000

  • Arts Students: ₦25,000

  • Science Students: ₦30,000

  • Students with Disabilities: ₦40,000

  • Law/Engineering/Medical Students: ₦50,000

For Students in Other Institutions:

  • Arts Students: ₦20,000
