Job Title: Director, Academic Planning

Location: Kano

Responsibilities

  • Keep in touch with the NUC at all times with a view of advising the university management on current developments
  • Keep up-to-date administrative records on admissions, student enrolment, graduate output, staffing, and finance at all times.
  • Collate, process, and produce University Statistics annually (using the NUC’s approved formats) for submission to the NUC as and when requested.
  • Keep up to date records on the accreditation status of all academic programmes in the university.
  • Be responsible for the preparation of Academic calendar for the University.
  • Ensure that only programmes with NUC’s approved Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (MAS) are allowed to run in the university.
  • Follow the necessary due diligence (due process) and request for the development of BMAS for programmes that do not have BMAS.
  • Keep abreast of the BMAS and raise issues for reviews as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the BMAS for each discipline is made available to all faculties, departments and widely circulated among academic staff in the university for reference purposes.
  • Keep abreast of the Academic Brief, inform university management of its provisions, and ensure strict compliance in the implementation of the Brief.
  • Ensure that the university’s Academic Brief is reviewed as and when due and submitted to the NUC for analysis.
  • Responsible for the completion and submission of application forms for the establishment of new units and academic programmes and splitting of programmes and units at all levels.
  • Advise the university to constitute a strategic planning committee according to the NUC’s guidelines and to draw up Strategic Plan for the university and ensure compliance with the provisions of the plan.

Qualifications

  • 10 – 15 years of experience in Student Affairs.
  • Experience determining fair consequences for students in violation of the code of conduct
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills when dealing with students, parents and staff
  • Experience investigating complaints and grievances against instructors, staff and fellow students
  • Ability to prepare and make effective presentations promoting programs within the University
  • Ability to analyze data regarding the effectiveness of programs and initiatives within the University
  • Comfortable administering consequences for violation of the code of conduct of academic standards
  • Experience in creating and supporting social clubs and programs within the school
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions and ability to engage in emergencies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Degree required, preferably in Business, Human Resource Management, Higher Education Administration, or a related field. Concentration in HRM, Services preferred.

Requirements:

  • 5 – 7 years in HR role within professional services environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership and consensus building skills
  • A proven record of accomplishment in developing and administering human resources.

  • Must have at least 3 – 4 years’ experience using Asp.net, Net Web Form, Net MVC, SQL Programming (Stored Procedures, Views, Functions), LINQ and ORM, Crystal Report & Angular
  • Must have experience in HTML, SASS (CSS), JavaScript and jQuery in a professional environment
