APPLY: World Bank Group opens application for young professionals programme
The World Bank Group has announced that applications for the Young Professionals Program (YPP) are now open.
In a statement on Thursday, the group confirmed that applications will open on September 1, 2024, and will remain open until 11:59 pm on September 30.
The World Bank explained that the program aims to recruit young professionals from various academic and professional backgrounds that are relevant to its operations as well as those of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
The WBG YPP is a two-year leadership development program that marks the start of a five-year employment contract with either the World Bank, IFC, or MIGA.
The selected professionals will begin the program in Washington, DC, where they will undergo intensive training—both on the job and in the classroom—learning the fundamentals of leadership and development operations across institutions.
“YPs are full-time employees, making significant contributions to their respective unit’s work program, while building networks and knowledge across the Bank Group through the YPP,” the organizers stated.
“They frequently participate in field missions, working on the frontlines of WBG operations, gaining key insights into our work, and directly engaging with our clients.”
Through the WBG YPP curriculum, YPs acquire foundational knowledge to contribute to our business and develop the competencies to lead. Activities include leadership and professional development workshops, networking, mentorship, and conversations with WBG leadership.
“YPs engage in intensive training on the policies, products, and operations of the World Bank, IFC, and MIGA. This component of the WBG YPP curriculum ensures that YPs understand how to implement joint WBG solutions to development challenges and how to retain and apply this knowledge in the future.”
