DR. GIFT OKERE FULFILLS PROMISE, REACHES OUT TO WIFE OF LATE JONAH CHU, CHAIRMAN OF ONNE APC IN ELEME LGA
It’s over a year ago, during the 2019 Election Campaigns, that Onne Town in Eleme suffered a shocking loss of a promising and vibrant young politician, and Chairman of All Progressives Congress APC in that area, by name Hon. Jonah Chu.
The brutal murder of Hon. Jonah Chu by unidentified gunmen threw his immediate family, peers, associates, Political allies, and indeed, entire Onne and Eleme LGA into unexplainable confusion and bitter tears. The loss particularly, to his young wife, who had just been rendered a widow, was so touching and heart-tearing.
Visitors upon visitors took time , either in groups or as individuals, to condole the widowed lady and kids of late Jonah, with promises to assist , to assuage the irreplaceable loss.
Amidst the callers then, was Hon. Dr. Gift Okere, APC Candidate for Eleme Tai Oyigbo Federal Constituency, who, aside playing a brotherly role with party stakeholders, to ensure the slain party Chair was accorded a befitting burial, had consistently raised a helping hand to the bereaved family.
Today, the Oyigbo born technorat, humanitarian and development politician has gone further to fulfill a major promise which he made like every other political leader who had taken turn to offer to assist.
Gift Okere, who has been known to have a niche for Windows’ Empowerment, Wednesday 11th November, 2020, through his friend in Onne, Hon. Bright Ngolo, and under the witness of Eleme APC, donated Baking Facilities to the widow of Late Jonah Chu.
The short handling over meeting took place at the residence of Chief Hon. Okase Nchima, Leader of APC in Onne Eleme, and Member of Eleme APC Leadership Caucus.
Items donated includes Baking Oven/Stove, A filled Gas Cylinder, a Big bag of Flour, Oil and Accessories.
The Philosophy behind this, Honorable Gift Okere expressed through Bright Ngolo, was to ensure the widow gets busy out there with a trade (since she had already acquired Catering certification), than depend on charity or turn to object of public pity.
Appreciations and prayers for the donor, Hon. Dr. Gift Okere, poured one after another from attendees at the brief handling over meeting; Hons: Ajuri Saka, Chairman Eleme APC, Hon. Nchima Okase, Thompson Osarogode, Frederick Oyor and Prince Meshak.
Hon. Ajuri Saka, Eleme APC Chairman described Dr. Gift Okere as a rare Politician and one scarce to come by in the multitude of present day political leaders. He assured the donor of Eleme’s undiluted solidarity and prayers as he sojourns in the murky waters of Nigerian politics.
Meanwhile, Onne APC Chairman and Former Councillor, Hon. Williams, prayed for Mrs. Jonah’s new business, and called on those at the event to be voluntary advert agents for the catering services of the beneficiary.
Mrs. Johna Chu (Widow) thanked Hon. Gift and the APC family, and also prayed God to bless and prosper the hand that has offered this great assistance to her in this difficult time.
