Job Title: Expense Controller

Location: Nigeria

Job Purpose

  • The cost controller is responsible for controlling costs including Capital expenses, operating and project cost. This includes planning, developing, controlling, and forecasting costs.
  • The cost controller works collaboratively with various department managers to analyze costs, assess vendor relationships, and maximize profitability and.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate an aptitude for efficiency, problemsolving, and resourcefulness, with a deep commitment to the bottom line without compromising quality.

Core Functions / Responsibilities
Planning Costs:

  • Budgeting and monitoring of capital expenditures and operational cost including evaluating and conducting project cost/benefit analysis.

Managing Costs:

  • Create a process for vendor onboarding and review of existing vendors.
  • Assess all incoming products, resources, and services to ensure the best price.
  • Ensure cost optimization by rolling out clear cost-saving programs with timelines and assessment goals.
  • Work in conjunction with all department heads to initiate cost savings methods on a proactive basis.

Monitoring Costs:

  • Monitor and update cost estimates for projects to ensure that costs are within expected ranges.
  • Reviewing expense reports to ensure that expenses are reasonable and appropriate for the circumstances
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure all costs are accurately tracked
  • Conducting cost analyses to identify areas where costs can be optimized altogether
  • Monitor budgets to ensure that spending does not exceed approved levels
  • Collect cost data periodically from suppliers or subcontractors to track material costs
  • Preparing reports to management regarding costs and expenses

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in social science related discipline plus Professional Qualification (ICAN, ACCA, CPA ).
  • Minimum of 5 years of cost control experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS-Office suite.
  • Capacity to work long hours, under pressure and with less supervision
  • Exceptionally well organized with an aptitude for data
  • Able to generate budgets and reports.
  • Strong presentation skills, able to explain concepts concisely and accurately.
  • Creative thinking skills and ability to solve problems.

Position Overview / Responsibilities

  • Maintain timely and accurate general ledger (posting entries, recording accruals, etc.) and maintain timely and accurate account reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Assist with general accounting including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, job costing and general ledger posting.
  • Assist with project setup sheets and maintain accounting filing system for projects.
  • Assist with the required tax reporting in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and update tax provision schedules
  • Research the basis for tax positions to be taken
  • Reconcile invoices with payments.
  • Process and monitor payments and expenses.
  • Receive and verify all vendor invoices.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • B.Sc Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or related course
  • Being a member of an internationally recognised accounting professional body: ICAN, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent is an advantage
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in accounts payable, receivable and general ledger accounting.
  • Industry experience would be an advantage.

Job Title: Finance Assistant

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

  • Investigation of reconciling items in the bank reconciliation statement
  • Raising of all necessary journals including bank charges
  • Confederal unit budget compilation
  • Reconcile all Corporate division claims paid during the period with Technical units
  • Processing all tax returns to the regulatory authorities PAYE, WHT, VAT and ensure prompt payment and strict compliance
  • Assist in raising all necessary journals to book new entrant and recognizing monthly annuity payment
  • Assist in preparing all supporting schedules to the monthly management account
  • Ensure proper filling of all processed vouchers
  • Submit all required reports to the Head, Payables, Credit Control and Investment as contained in the deliverables checklist of payable Unit.
  • Bi monthly reconciliation of Bank Statements as allocated.
  • Coordinates quarterly compilation of NAICOM’s return.
  • Providing team with Bank Statements Bi monthly to enable them carry out Bank reconciliation exercise
  • Any other task as may be assigned by the Head, Payables, Credit Control and Investment.
