The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) is now open for online applications for the Fall 2025 intake. The GIST University South Korea Scholarship is available for Master’s, Master’s Leading to Ph.D., and Doctoral Degree programs. Applicants from all over the world are welcome to apply.

Located in Gwangju, South Korea, GIST is a prestigious university known for not charging an application fee, unlike other South Korean universities such as KAIST and UST. Furthermore, all international students automatically receive the GIST Scholarship, meaning no separate application is needed. The scholarship fully funds tuition, meals, housing, a monthly stipend, health insurance, and flight tickets. Courses are taught in English.

English Language Requirement

For all other applicants, one of the following official English proficiency test scores is required:

  • IELTS: 6.5

GIST strongly recommends obtaining an English test score, as it may be required by Korean immigration authorities for visa processing.
