INCESSANT ATTACKS ON ELEME MOTHERS ON OUR FARMLANDS AND LAND GRABBING BY OKRIKA YOUTHS

INCESSANT ATTACKS ON ELEME MOTHERS ON OUR FARMLANDS AND LAND GRABBING BY OKRIKA YOUTHS.

A Call For Governor Sim Fubara’s Urgent Attention…

On Tuesday 12th November , 2024, the entire Aleto town of Eleme went aflame with uneasy news from Eleme mothers and farmers who all trooped to the town with cries and lamentations.

They marched through the town to the Headquarters of Eleme Local Government Council with reports of having been attacked by Okrika youths . They reported that these dare devil men assaulted, raped them, ceased their cellphones, monies and farm implements.

Before they could reach out to the Council Chairman, news reached Eleme that some of these attackers have been apprehended. The men kept insisting that they own the Aleto axis of the Aleto-Alesa-Woji link road, and that, they have come to protect their land.

Our call on the Executive Governor of Rivers State,
His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara, GSSRS, is necessitated by the fact that, this act of brazen attacks on Eleme mothers across Alesa, Aleto and Alode by Okrika youths may have been sponsored by some high profile Okrika Stakeholders.

Recall that few weeks ago, the Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Chief Igwe Achese was heard on a national radio promising Okrika people that he would soon release Tractors, Payloaders and machines to clear vast portion of lands for the people to commence development, road construction and other projects. The question is:

Where is the land?

The Governor of Rivers State should be informed that this same Okrika LGA Chairman has been on the Police to release the apprehended boys. This act suggests he is backing these purported land grabbers , kidnappers and thieves.

We wish to plead with the Executive Governor of Rivers State to call on the Okrika Local Government Council Chairman, Chief Igwe Achese, to caution Okrika youths to stay off Eleme Land.
The Okrika Chairman , similarly should be cautioned not to deploy any tractor machines on Eleme Land , be it , Alesa, Aleto and Alode.

Also, the attacks on our mothers and sisters on our farmlands must stop.
We call on the Executive Governor of Rivers State, to please intervene so as to save the two neighbors of Eleme and Okrika any ugly crisis, which would not paint our dear State in a good light.

We count on His Excellency’s magnanimous and prompt attention to our plea.

God bless Rivers State.

Signed.
