Jewel University Gombe (JUG) is Hiring Principal Officers Jewel University, Gombe (JUG) is excited to announce job openings for highly qualified candidates in the positions of principal officers.

Position: Vice-Chancellor

Qualifications:

  • The candidate must hold the position of a professor for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • Age requirement: The candidate should be below the age of 55 upon assuming duty.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of continuous service as a lecturer in reputable universities.
  • Demonstrated capability in mobilizing financial resources/grants from national and international bodies.
  • Proven experience in establishing new or restructuring existing tertiary institutions.
  • Proficient in ICT and open to technology, recognizing its potential applications.
  • Physically fit, morally sound, and of impeccable character.

The Vice-Chancellor will initially serve a term of five (5) years and may be eligible for reappointment for a second term. The specific terms and conditions of service will be outlined in a contract issued by the University.

Position: Registrar

Qualifications:

  • Age requirement: The candidate should not exceed fifty (50) years of age at the time of appointment.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant experience, with at least five (5) years at a management level.
  • A minimum of a Second-Class upper Honours Degree in Social Sciences from a recognized University (higher degrees in relevant subjects are advantageous).
  • Membership in a relevant administrative/professional association.
  • Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its application in university administrative and management functions.
  • Physically and mentally fit, with strong integrity and leadership qualities.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

The remuneration and conditions of service will be in accordance with the post of Registrar in Nigerian Universities, as determined by the Governing Council of Jewel University.

Position: University Bursar

Qualifications:

  • A good Honours Degree in Accounting or related disciplines from a recognized University (possession of a master’s degree is advantageous).
  • Current rank not lower than Deputy Bursar with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, five (5) of which must be in a university setting.
  • Registration with a professional body such as the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
  • Knowledge of ICT and proficiency in accounting software for financial administration and management.
  • Age requirement: The candidate should not exceed fifty (50) years of age upon assuming duty.
  • Proven competence, responsiveness, integrity, and transparency in financial administration and management.

The Bursar will initially serve a term of five (5) years and may be eligible for reappointment for a second term. The specific terms and conditions of service will be outlined in a contract issued by the University.

Position: University Librarian

Qualifications:

  • A good master’s or Ph.D. degree in Library/Information Science from a recognized University.
  • Deputy University Librarian or Professor rank.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Record of research contributions and scholarly publications in reputable journals.
  • Understanding of modern University Library practices, including extensive experience in management and administration.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software, particularly e-library systems.
  • Registration with the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
  • Age requirement: The candidate should not exceed fifty (50) years of age upon assuming duty.

The University Librarian will initially serve a term of five (5) years and may be eligible for reappointment for a second term. The specific terms and conditions of service will be outlined in a contract issued by the University.

Position: Academic Secretary

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Sociology, Counselling and Psychology, Education Planning and Management, Human Resource Management, or related subjects from a reputable university.
  • At least ten (10) years of working experience in higher learning institutions, preferably in student welfare, with a minimum of three (3) years at a senior management level. Age limit: 50 years.
  • Understanding of student behavioral patterns, group dynamics, and the ability to promote disciplined behavior among students.
  • Prior experience in a high-paced, performance-driven environment.
  • Relevant experience in a client-driven environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at different levels.
  • Knowledge of university procedures and regulations related to student affairs.
  • Knowledge of arbitration, mediation, and negotiation processes and practices.
  • The ability to develop medium and long-term objectives, goals, strategies, and action plans related to student affairs.

The remuneration and conditions of service will be in accordance with the post of Academic Secretary in Nigerian Universities, as determined by the Governing Council of Jewel University.
