Job Title: Head, Marketing
Location: Abuja
Job Type: Full Time
Gender: Male or Female

The Position

  • The Head, Marketing will work with other team members of the TV marketing Executives in developing an organization’s marketing strategies and contribute to develop integrated marketing campaigns to promote the TV brand
  • This job role is a varied role, and includes:
    • Planning
    • Advertising
    • Public relations
    • Event organisation
    • Sponsorship
    • Research.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conceive and develop efficient and intuitive marketing strategies for the TV
  • Conduct market research and analysis to evaluate trends, and determine our target audience needs
  • Communicate with target audiences to build and develop customer relationships
  • Create awareness and develop the TV brand
  • Source for advertising opportunities
  • Produce creative content, including videos and blog post
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Initiate and control surveys to assess customer requirements and dedication
  • Developing creative briefs and ensure that marketing output is characterised by the highest creative standards
  • Stay abreast of technology trends and use this to contribute ideas to the Company
  • Collaborate with graphic designers, web specialists, and other technical team members to create successful marketing campaigns
  • Develop strategically placed advertisements to reach niche demographic
  • Initiate marketing tactics and techniques
  • Centralise and spread marketing best practices
  • Plan, develop and execution of print and online campaigns for the TV
  • Use statistics and other tools to track the effectiveness of the existing marketing strategy.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.Sc / B.A in Marketing, Business Administration or relevant discipline
  • Minimum of ten (10) years proven experience as a Marketer in a corporate organization
  • Good understanding of market research techniques, data analysis and statistics methods
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Creativity and commercial awareness
  • A track record of developing innovative marketing campaigns
  • Self-starter, strategic and a good team player
  • Ability to anticipate the challenges and opportunities which arise from market place developments and translate these into a coherent medium to long term strategy for the company
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends as required.

Job Title: Chief Engineer
Location: Abuja
Job Type: Full Time
Gender: Male or Female

The Position

  • The Chief Engineer will work with other team members of the TV station to plan and evaluate all TV project activities and ensure that the technical facilities of the TV operate at the highest quality within required guidelines and established budget.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To coordinate and plan the installation, maintenance, and operation of broadcast television equipment and facilities
  • Monitor strength, clarity, and reliability of incoming and outgoing signals and adjust equipment as necessary to maintain quality broadcasts
  • To manage all technical operations for the TV stations
  • Technical Inventory and spares Management
  • Automated station play-out & Commercial Traffic
  • News Automation with Octopus Newsroom Computer system (NRCS) with Capability for simultaneous news publishing on TV, Web & Social Media
  • To Support Broadcasting user departments to ensure that they meet their commercial and production obligations
  • Operations & Maintenance of the Signal Distribution Network
  • Championing technology leadership and digital media transformation within the organization
  • Liaison with the Nigeria Communications Commission on broadcast regulatory matters
  • Forecasting on Technical needs for the TV station
  • Evaluation and scoring for all outgoing technical tenders in the TV station
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of the TV projects
  • Developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility and conclusion of the TV set up
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Maintain a high level of broadcast industry technical and business knowledge to keep the broadcast infrastructure up to industry standards
  • Ensures the highest quality television signal by overseeing the daily operations of the engineering and master control functions
  • Ensures that broadcast equipment is maintained and operates within broadcast standards and guidelines provided by the National Broadcasting Commission and other regulatory agencies by developing, scheduling, performing, and supervising routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance of technical equipment located in the studio and at transmitter sites
  • Analyse systems and or workflow to identify issues, improvements and solutions
  • Create and implement best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance
  • Ensure that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets which enables the company to function and compete effectively in the market.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of station-level broadcast television engineering experience
  • Sound understanding and demonstrated expertise in setting up of TV station
  • Experience in managing complex technical projects
  • Able to supervise and train staff on use of equipment
  • Self-starter and able to work with moderate supervision
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends as required.

Job Title: Podcast Producer / Presenter
Location: Abuja
Job Type: Full Time
Gender: Male or Female

The Position

  • The candidate should be passionate about programme making, and have experience of developing new programmes for podcast
  • The person should know what makes a programme work and have ideas on how to improve existing formats.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To devise and produce original, innovative and entertaining shows and podcasts for the online Digital Platform
  • Ability to know the audience and how to engage with them
  • Enjoy working with the Daily Trust online team, sharing ideas and working together to enhance their capacity
  • Clear understanding and approach of production in an imaginative and creative way
  • Set up and oversee all stages of the production process efficiently and with attention to details
  • Editorially responsible for programmes produced
  • To oversee the production of podcasts and ensure things run smoothly
  • To edit content and evaluate content pitches
  • Develop and editing on all aspects of the audio production
  • To manage the production schedule
  • Oversees script development and direct the host during recording sessions
  • To devise and produce original, innovative and entertaining podcasts
  • To play a central role in the production of all our clients branded podcasts
  • Coordinating and transcribing audio recordings
  • To manage the recording studio and determine the story of each podcast
  • Experience as a Television presenter / editing will be an added advantage.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a B.Sc / B.A in Journalism, Media Production, Communication Studies or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience on the job
  • Member of a Professional Body

Job Title: Business Editor
Location: Abuja
Job Type: Full Time

The Position

  • The ideal candidate will lead a team of reporters to produce cutting edge reports and analysis of business events, trends and personalities
  • The job holder will perform a variety of editorial duties, such as editing, laying out, and revising content of written materials, in preparation for publication

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the business team to plan and execute effective coverage of local and international business stories
  • Prepare, rewrite and edit business stories, reports, interviews and features
  • Supervising and monitoring of business reporters
  • Plan the contents of business pages in accordance to the Media Trust style and editorial policy
  • Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources
  • Review and approve news story submitted by reporters, prior to publication
  • Develop stories and content ideas, considering readers and audience appeal
  • Answer to different title editors who commission on the business desk for specific stories / analysis
  • Assign topics, events and stories to individual reporters for coverage
  • Read, evaluate and edit manuscripts or other materials submitted for publication and confer with the Editor, Daily Trust regarding changes in content or publication
  • Monitor news-gathering operations to ensure utilization of all news sources, such as press releases, telephone contacts, radio, television, wire services, and other reports
  • Meet frequently with business departments to strategize on revenue generations to the company
  • Select local, state, national and international news items received form wire services, based on assessment of items’ significance and interest value.
  • Any other duty assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Economics or Business. A Master’s Degree in Economics will be an advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years cognate experience with at least 5 years at a middle editorial position
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies is important.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Rich professional experience in editorial work
  • Ability to reduce complex ideas to simple and easy to follow stories
  • Understands the structure and content of the English Language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Knowledgeable about media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral and visual media
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Has knowledge of business, financial, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the business politics
  • Computer literate and knowledgeable about Microsoft Office Suite
  • Has a business drive, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, is flexible and has a “hands-on” approach
  • Digital proficiency to be able to produce stories for online.
