RIVERRINE, UPLAND LEADERS KICK; AS GOVERNOR WIKE SCHEMES TO HANDOVER BRICK HOUSE TO ANOTHER IKWERE MAN.
The looming battle of which area of Rivers State should produce Wike’s successor, has taken another turn as some party leaders from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rivers State has vowed to resist the Governor’s move to be succeded by his tribesman.
Top politicians whose preferred candidates could not surprisingly secure spot on the Local government Area elections ballot, include Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)and his cousin, Tele Ikuru who is also the immediate past deputy Governor of Rivers State.
The Governor shocked many Bigwigs from the 23 Local government Areas, with the release of names of candidates for the Rivers April 2021 local government elections.
It is evident that Chidi Lloyd and other candidates were carefully chosen by Gov. Wike as a way of positioning his trusted allies in strategic positions, especially at the grassroots ahead of the 2023 election.
The Riverrine people holds the view that since 1967 when Rivers State was created, there have existed this Riverrine and Upland harmonization, insisting that their people want Riverrine part that have been shut out to taste power.
Other leaders from the Southeast Senatorial district, dominated by the Ogoni’s insist Wike should allow somebody from any of the four Ogoni local government Areas, Khana, Gokana, Tai, Eleme to emerge as Governor Wike’s successor to ensure equity, Justice and fairness.
The Riverrine and Ogoni leaders argued that Democracy is all about power sharing and power shifting.
