Job Summary

  • We are looking to hire a National Youth Corp Member as a support to the Operations department during the service year of the Corp member.
  • This role will support the Operations Coordinator in providing various operational support to projects being executed in the Country office.
  • The operations support responsibilities lies within logistics, procurement, office management and other secretarial duties.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical duties, including, but not limited to, mailing and filing correspondence, preparing payrolls, placing orders, and answering calls.
  • Interacts with clients, visitors, and vendors in establishment of services rendered.
  • Provides logistics support in accordance to project needs.
  • Sorts and distributes incoming mail.
  • Arrange meeting rooms, draft and disseminate meeting agendas, prepare briefing notes and where necessary take meeting minutes, which may include preparing, and disseminating materials as instructed.
  • Photocopies, scans, and files appropriate documents.
  • Assists with organizing events when necessary
  • Perform small-scale procurement, ensuring adequate stocks of all necessary supplies (e.g. stationery, water, etc.)
  • Signs for delivered packages and distributes them to the appropriate recipient.
  • Assume responsibility for document filing and develops office administrative procedures as required. Responds to general inquiries to the field office.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Social Science-related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Volunteer or internship experience.

Required Languages;

  • English Language.

Job Title: Communications Specialist, Inspiring Good Nutrition Initiatives Through Enterprise (IGNITE)

Job Summary

  • Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Program Director (IGNITE), the Communications Specialist will support in developing and implementing a branding, marketing and communications strategy for IGNITE.
  • S/He will support communications activities on the project, including press releases, communication between bilaterally funded projects, etc.
  • The Communications Specialist will effectively engage with media, partners, staff members, and other stakeholders; will have excellent written and oral communication skills; and be able to set priorities, efficiently manage time and multiple complex tasks, and work independently.

Program / Practice / Department Overview

  • The Inspiring Good Nutrition Initiatives Through Enterprise (IGNITE) will build on the foundations of the Technical Assistance Accelerator Prelude (TAAP) program to achieve increased motivation and fortification capability of millers leading to increased proportion of fortified staple foods and conversion of a critical mass of millers to improved FF practices across at least eight countries.
  • IGNITE will facilitate the activation and expansion of a catalytic collective impact initiative – the Millers 4 Nutrition (M4N) coalition – to globally coordinate and locally implement an ultimately sustainable mode for delivery of technical assistance (TA) and other services to millers.
  • These TA services, and associated engagement platforms, will establish business cases and motivate and develop capabilities of food processors to improve their performance in the fortification of selected staple foods and condiments, and thereby to achieve large-scale and relevant (contributing to the diets of large proportions of populations in countries where staple FF has been identified as part of national nutrition strategies) coverage on a sustained basis.
  • The IGNITE program will be implemented in eight priority countries namely Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan and Tanzania.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional Qualifications That Would Make a Candidate More Desirable:

  • Proficiency with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Premiere). Graphic design experience is a plus.
  • Experience with marketing tools such as Constant Contact, MailChimp, and Salesforce.
  • Advanced proficiency with relevant software packages, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to capture, synthesize, and present programming and organizational successes and lessons learned.
  • Experience in a specific region/country or . Experience working on programs implemented in Nigeria and/or other African geographies
  • Sectoral experience – Previous work in development, food processing, nutrition is an advantage

Required Languages:

Job Title: Senior Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Manager, West Africa and High Margin Agriculture

Job Summary

  • The Senior Regional Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager is the most senior MEL position in the region and is tasked with providing leadership across the MEL function.
  • The position does this through providing technical guidance to project-level MEL systems development, evaluation oversight, and capacity building across TechnoServe’s West Africa portfolio.
  • The Senior Regional MEL Manager ensures that the foundational building blocks for managing to impact are in place within program, country, and regional teams.
  • Additionally, the Senior MEL Manager will manage a Data Specialist as a direct report and facilitate his/her work in developing and maintaining technology systems for data collection and utilization.
  • The Senior MEL Manager position requires strong technical MEL expertise, but is also fundamentally a leadership position.
  • Success in the roles requires effective communication with senior staff, an ability to build and manage relationships remotely, strong project management skill, and strategic thinking.
  • The West Africa portfolio includes 20+ projects, ranging from small pilots with lightweight MEL approaches, to large scale (>$20M) value chain projects with multiple MEL staff across several countries. Some projects focus on entrepreneurship or food processing, however, the majority are part of TechnoServe’s High Margin Agriculture (HMA) practice area.
  • Therefore, while this position will be embedded in the West African Region, it will collaborate closely with HMA practice area leaders to develop and advance best practices and standards.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities
Provide direct technical assistance to projects (60% LOE):

  • Lead internal evaluations or special studies; Manage external evaluators.
  • Provide support and technical oversight to junior MEL staff (e.g. regular check-ins and sign-off on deliverables on projects that only have junior MEL Associates).
  • Provide advisory and direct technical assistance on specific MEL deliverables.
  • Support the effective utilization of data and technology systems through managing and facilitating the work of a Data Specialist.

Execute the core functions of the Global Impact Team, including (20% LOE):

  • Promote TechnoServe’s Global MEL Standards through staff training, conducting diagnostics, and developing MEL improvement plans.
  • Support or lead annual/semi-annual global initiatives in the region, including Corporate Measurement and the Program Quality Survey.
  • Provide inputs to the Program Development team, including reviewing the MEL section of proposals and advising on logical frameworks.
  • Hire and onboard country-level and project-level MEL staff
  • Promote knowledge sharing across the West African region and between regions.
