THE DIRTY FIGHT OR REAL OCCURRENCES
By Uche E. Woke
The quality of people in a country largely determines how far the country goes in terms of economic development and infrastructure. If a country is populated by overambitious politicians, unpatriotic and gullible citizens and saboteurs alike then it makes sense to say that such a country is stuck in the doldrums. A country like that merely takes one step forward and two steps backwards making the common objective of catching up with the rest of the developed world a herculean task that is most likely insurmountable.
Infrastructures cannot be sustained in the face of mass ingratitude. If citizens appreciate every little effort and achievement made by the government in basic amenities and upscale infrastructures then there’ll be a natural inclination for protecting what the government has achieved out of her many expectations.
I watched TVCnews this morning and I saw the passion with which one Barrister Tunji spoke and demanded for the president to resign. He also criticized Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Honourable Minister of Transportation over the Abuja-Kaduna train bombing which happened between Katari and Rigina axis and took 8 lives according to reports. Prior to this interview, I noticed in the TVC newspaper review, how there was so much concentration on the unfortunate incidence and the obvious direct attacks on the president by the TVCnews staff MIKE OKWOCHE and a guest, Jide Ologwu. And then they proceeded to playing the emotional card intended to whip up sentiments for Tinubu by re-echoing how Tinubu as the National Chairman of APC has shown statesmaly posture amidst the national disgrace and embarrassment caused by Buhari and his Minister by canceling his birthday colloquium. This is their narrative.
The sequence was sharp and too revealing the fact that someone is indeed taking advantage of an unforseen dastardly occurrence or simply following a script deliberately designed to malign the president and reinforce a legitimacy crisis in the country to pave way for a somewhat Messiah from Lagos.
This mafia and hypocritical type of politics is nothing more than barbaric. People who are too fast and excessively ambitious and have no qualms scoring points with disasters and deaths involving human beings are not fit to be entrusted with leadership. It is obvious that Tinubu the self acclaimed National Leader of APC has abandoned the principle of collective responsibility; he has clearly isolated himself like the proverbial man who after joining his friends to a toilet came to the roadside and started shouting that his friends were smelling like poo.
Despite the challenges the country faces today of which most are man-made, the positive revolution in rail transportation will be sustained. Nigerians will not make the electoral choice that will run on the platform of hate and stall the industrialization process that was started by President Muhammadu Buhari.
My heart goes out to the families of those who were unfortunately killed in those attacks. Government should find a way of soothing their pains through some compensation. The ministry of Transportation in conjunction with the presidency should fast rack the security process to prevent future occurrences. So far, it has been reported that CJTF has tracked down and neutralized dozens of the Bandits/Terrorists in Birnin Gwari axis of Kaduna State. We expect more security actions in the area and other parts of the country. God bless and help Nigeria.
