Travelling to America? Here’s how you can get your US visa faster, check new appointment rules Thousands of people from different nations travel to the United States each year, and the US visa process for many nationals can sometimes take more than a year. To reduce the time it takes to get your travel visa, the US Embassy has launched a new initiative.

In an effort to reduce the time for Indian citizens to obtain US visas, the US Embassy has now allowed Indian travelers to seek their visa deals abroad. This applies to US B1/B2 visa agreements.

This move has been extended by the US Embassy for visa applicants from India as the wait time to get a travel visa to America can sometimes reach up to 800 days for some people. The US Embassy said this application process is set for tourist and business visas only.

The US Embassy in India tweeted: “Do you have any upcoming international travel? If so, you may be able to make a visa appointment at the US Embassy or Consulate at your destination. For example, @USEmbassyBKK has opened B1/B2 appointment capacity for Indians who will be in Thailand in the coming months.”

Citing Thailand as an example, as it is one of the most popular travel destinations for Indians, the US embassy said the country has the ability to book tourist and business visa deals for Indians seeking visas to the US.

Apart from deals for Indians abroad, the US Embassy also announced a series of initiatives aimed at reducing the US visa waiting period for Indian nations, which includes increasing consular staffing and holding special interviews for first-time applicants.

This means that if you are applying for a US visa for the first time, you are likely to get an appointment much faster. In addition, those wishing to renew their US visa can submit their application via dropbox and will not be asked for biometrics as their data is already at the US Embassy.
