URGENT APPEAL FOR SHORELINE PROTECTION AND SANDFILLING IN NKORO, OPOBO/NKORO LGA, RIVERS STATE⁰
To His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, (GSSRS)
Executive Governor of Rivers State,
I write to express my deepest gratitude to you, on behalf of the good people of Nkoro, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, for your recent approval of the revalidation of the construction of a 4.8km reinforced concrete shoreline protection and reclamation project in Queens Town, Epellema–Iloma–Minima Communities. This project is a testament to your administration’s commitment to developing Rivers State’s infrastructure and improving the lives of its citizens.
Your Excellency Sir, please see this as a follow-up on my longstanding Plea for Relief. As you may recall, this is my third attempt to bring to your notice the plight of the people of Nkoro, who have been suffering from the devastating effects of flooding and erosion, which has resulted in loss of livelihood, displacement, and destruction of properties. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Section 14(2)(b), emphasizes the importance of protecting and improving the lives of every Nigerian. In light of this, I humbly appeal to you to consider extending the shoreline protection project to Nkoro, to safeguard the lives and properties of our people.
I sincerely PLEAD for urgent assistance considering the fact that we are surrounded by water, and our communities are under constant threat from flooding and erosion. The situation is becoming increasingly dire, and I fear for the safety of our people. I implore you to consider my plea and award Nkoro shoreline protection and sandfilling projects. This would not only save lives and properties but also provide a sense of security and stability for our communities.
Finally, I commend your administration’s efforts in developing Rivers State, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, education, and healthcare. Etc. Your leadership has also been notable for giving our community a voice, as evidenced in the opportunity for an Nkoro son to serve as the Executive Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro LGA.
In conclusion, I express my heartfelt gratitude for your attention to this matter and look forward to your favorable response.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dstg. Comr. Williams Ibinabo
