The Rivers State Police Command has rescued a two-week-old baby boy, who was allegedly sold by the grandmother at birth for N1.3million.
According to the police, Antonia Amos, sold the child because she claimed her daughter’s baby daddy had yet to pay her bride price.
It was gathered that Amos was arrested after the father of the baby, Christian Duru reported the case to the police.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Joseph Mukan, said the suspect led the Detectives to Ukanafun LGA in Akwa-Ibom State where one Pauline Umoh was arrested.
She later led the Police to Mgbidi in Imo State where the buyer, Juliana Obianwa was arrested and the baby recovered.
The CP said efforts are on to arrest others involved in the crime.

Dear lord, may I not be in Yabaleft when the trumpet shall sound.🙏😥
Ibum Ikoh: What if the buyers are genuinely in need of the baby,
And have no intentions of hurting the child,
But if so then there’s nothing wrong with selling the child, as long as the mother and father of the child allows it,
But here I don’t think the father of the child agreed to it,
Na was ooo
Rutheliah Tembo: Even if that man didn’t pay for impregnating her daughter, she has no right to put a price on an innocent baby. That’s just disgusting and wrong.
Dora Onuorah: Is not better for them to leave the baby with those that hv bought him already. For them to pay such an amount… They can take care and of cherish the baby. Its better oo than leaving him with irresponsible parents and inabosky grandma😂😂😂
Kosisochukwu Eze: With the way things are going now don’t be surprised in the nearest future siblings will be having affairs and marrying themselves without knowing
