The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) is one of the eleven electricity distribution companies that emerged after the unbundling of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).The company is saddled with the primary responsibility of distributing and marketing electricity to end users within the five states in the South-East geo-political zone; namely: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo, with a total of 18 Business Districts offices across these states.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Audit Officer

Location: Abagana, Aguleri, Obosi and Firstpower Headquarters (Awka) – Anambra
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Internal Audit & Compliance
Slot: 4 Openings

Responsibilities

  • Risk Management and Control Evaluation: To assess, identify and evaluate internal control risk for possible mitigation and/or elimination.
  • Regulatory and Policy Compliance: Ensuring that the organisation/company’s operations comply with relevant local, State, and federal laws, regulations and industrial standards.
  • Operational Efficiency and Performance Audit: To conduct performance and operational audits to assess the efficiency and productivity of business processes such as resource utilisation, cost control/reduction, and supply chain management/recommendation implementation.
  • Financial Integrity and Reporting: Monitoring daily cash collections, preparing monthly revenue assurance eports, reconciling and examining accounting records and financial statements to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Carry out pre- and post-expenses audit for cost control purposes.
  • Fraud Detection and prevention: Assisting in the investigation of suspected misconduct or fraud, and implementing controls to safeguard organisational assets.
  • Follow-up and Remediation: Monitoring the implementation of corrective actions and remediation efforts by
  • Management to ensure that identified gaps and deficiencies are resolved in a timely and effective manner.
  • Process Review: Conducting a targeted and full routine audit of the various Districts and aspects of the company.
  • Assets Management/Protection: Conduct regular checks on the company’s asset movement and usage.
    • To evaluate projects and ensure standardisation.
    • To follow up on Substation construction, commissioning, transformer acquisition and repairs evaluation.
    • Energy audit evaluation.
  • Reporting and Communication: Documenting audit findings, observations, and recommendations in clear, detailed reports and presentations for senior Management.

Advisory Role

  • Providing objective advice to management and staff on best practices for internal control, risk mitigation strategies, and process enhancements to drive continuous improvement and add value to theorganisation.

Requirements

  • HND / BSc / B.Eng. in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Electrical Engineering & Business Administration. Professional certifications/memberships,such as CIA, CPA, CISA, CAN, ACA, ACCA, NEMSA, CIPEN & COREN, are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ auditing/accounting work experience.
  • Age: 30 yearsto 40years.

Job Title: Security Officer

Location: Awka & Aguleri Districts – Anambra
Employment Type: Full-time
Unit: Security

Job Description
Community & Security Liaison:

  • Engage with Police Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, vigilante groups, and other stakeholders within the region.

Legal Reporting & Coordination:

  • Identify individuals for legal follow-up and coordinate with the Legal Department to ensure suspects are arraigned properly

Risk Assessment & Incident Management:

  • Conduct routine risk and threat assessments of FirstPower’s assets.
  • Alert security agencies promptly during protests, labour actions, or other threats to infrastructure

Security Workforce Oversight:

  • Supervise outsourced security personnel across assigned areas

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Lead at least two quarterly security perception management meetings involving the community and securitystakeholders

Incident Reporting & Investigation Support:

  • Timely report of security incidents to the Police and FirstPower’s Head of Security.
  • Ensure legal follow-up and assist staff in preparing police statements.
  • Monitor police investigations involving FirstPower incidents

Qualifications

  • Must be retired SSS, police, army or other government or private security agencies
  • Must not be above 60 years old at the point of enlistment
  • Must be a degree holder or its equivalent
  • Must not be less than CSP or LT Col rank or its equivalent, that is, grade level (13) and above
  • Current Curriculum Vitae
  • Must produce a medical fitness certificate from any government-recognised hospital.

Job Title: Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Officer

Location: FirstPower Business Districts (Onitsha, Ogbaru, Obosi, Awka & Abagana) – Anambra
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Internal Audit & Compliance
Slot: 5 Openings

Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance with work codes and safety regulations.
  • Ensure availability/maintenance of First Aid boxes and regular provision of necessary kits for the use by employees.
  • Participate in occupational health safety programmes for the prevention of industrial, motor vehicle and/or workplace accidents.
  • Carry out periodic Inspection on Firstpower facilities, equipment and work-in-progress to determine potential for hazards and advise on-site corrections of flagrant safety violations and hazardous conditions.
  • Carry out toolbox meetings at the District Office and Service Centres.
  • Liaise with Head HSE/HSE Supervisor on procedures for accident prevention & report all accidents.
  • Monitor and enforce the usage of Personal Protective Equipment/wear at the District.
  • Ensure Fire extinguishers are available, maintained & strategically placed in Firstpower offices/Injection substations at the District.
  • Collation of the Fire Equipment database at the District.
  • Organise safety induction training for new staff, IT Students and youth corps members attached to Firstpower at the District.
  • Placement of safety stickers/posters and safety awareness items for information dissemination at the district.
  • Ensure proper Environmental management, such as application of Herbicides, Weeding, Pest control and fumigation in the Firstpower premises & Injection substations.
  • Ensure Good Housekeeping is practised in Firstpower Offices and Injection substations.
  • Ensure proper Waste management in Firstpower premises and Injection substations.
  • Carry out a Public Awareness safety Campaign at the district

Requirements

  • B.ENG / HND / B.SC (Engineering)
  • Must have General HSE and HSE Supervision LEVEL 3 Certificate, preferably ISPON, Basic First Aid, and Professional Membership are added advantages.
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience (Post NYSC)
  • Age: 30 – 40 years.
