The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced the commencement of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) youth internship scheme.
Mr. Chiedu Ebie, who is the Chairman governing board of the NDDC during the inauguration of the NDDC youth internship scheme called on the Niger Delta youths to take advantage of this scheme to get empowered in skills that will equip them to become financially independent.
Overview of the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Youth Internship Scheme is a deliberate initiative to support the professional growth, employability and skills of young individuals in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. This program is aimed to select 10,000 beneficiaries in its initial take-off, who will then participate in a 12-month internship program.

- Who is Eligibility:
- This training scheme is open to all youths from the Niger Delta states within the age bracket of 18 to 45 years.
- Have at least a secondary school certificate
- Show interest in acquiring new skills or enhancing existing ones
- Each intern will receive a stipend of 50,000.00 for 12 months of this phase
- The selection process is competitive, ensuring that only the most qualified and motivated applicants are chosen.
- Selection of Internship Placement:
- Selected beneficiaries from the Niger Delta states will have the opportunity to choose their prepreferrlocationafor the internship. This allows the interns to gain experience in areas aligned with their career interests and aspirations.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- The NDDC has instituted a robust monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework to assess the progress and success of the internship program. This ensures that both interns and host organizations meet the program’s objectives.
- Stipend and Support:
- Each intern will receive a stipend of ₦50,000.00 per month for the entire duration of the 12-month internship. This financial support is designed to help interns cover basic expenses and fully engage in the program.

■ Go to the NDDC application website at https://nyis.nddc.gov.ng/
■ Scroll down and click on “REGISTER NOW” or visit https://nyis.nddc.gov.ng/Register directly
■ Enter your email and phone number to receive the registration code
■ Choose your state (Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo, and Rivers)
■ Fill in your Bio with accurate personal information
■ Provide your valid contact details
■ Upload the required documents, including proof of residence and business information
■ Submit the application and await a confirmation email
Note: Registration for the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme is free and will close on August 31, 2024. Please note that the application process for this stipend of 50,000 Naira is highly competitive. Therefore, it’s possible that you may not qualify in the end.
Successful applicants will be informed of their selection and will receive additional instructions via email. This program aims to empower the youth of the Niger Delta and is conducted in phases. If you don’t qualify in this phase, stay optimistic for the next one.
