Job Title: CBM Engineer M / F

Main Activities

  • Contributes to the building of Methods and Support activities within the Maintenance entity.
  • Carries out CBM vibration surveys on site as per planning developed by the CBM Lead and issues reports accordingly
  • Follows up with site to ensure that all actions arising from the CBM Surveys are promptly closed
  • Carries out Lube Oil sampling as per the planning, performs laboratory analysis of the samples as required and issues reports accordingly.
  • Advises site on the outcome of the Lube Oil analysis and the actions required to be carried out to ensure equipment availability.
  • Reviews and advises and follows up on the acceptable process for Lube Oil management on site.
  • Carries out gas leak investigation/surveys on sites and makes estimates of the leakage rates of valves. Also, develops the action plan to close out the leaks on the concerned valves.
  • Participates in RAID meetings with HQ and Smart Room and follows up with TADM’s and site to ensure the closure of the actions arising therefrom.
  • Assists in vibration analyses and other analyses including all methods related activites as required by the CBM Lead.
  • Is in constant liaison with the Smart Room Engineers, Maintenance disciplines TADM’s and Methods Engineers to follow-up actions with regards to the results of the different CBM measurement campaigns.
  • Follows up with site on all the corrective actions recommended following analyses to ensure that they are properly implemented. Visits site whenever the need arises and physically assists to carry out specialized activities following from CBM results (balancing, alignment, rotor axial position adjustment, proximiter gaps setting, etc.…)
  • Issues regular CBM reports as considered necessary to show the health status of big machinery and to highlight pending problems.
  • Takes the ownership on all CBM tools on sites and at base, and acts to ensure their proper usage and safekeeping
  • Carries out infra-red thermography campaigns on electrical switchboards and ensures the timely execution and report interpretation. Follows up with site on the corrective actions arising therefrom.
  • Follows up the Condition Based Monitoring of electrical motors, takes data and liaises with responsible Contractors to interprete and proffer sloutions to equipment issues.
  • Carries out borroscope inspection on turbogenerators when required and issues reports
  • Follow up SAP Work Orders to ensure proper preparation, close out and reporting on all CBM related actitives on site
  • Assists in any other way considered necessary in his capacity, to support the CBM Leader and the maintenance team objective to ensure efficient site support and good availability and reliability of rotating equipment.

  • Enters intervention reports in the CMMS (including those concerning SMC) and writes the technical reports related to his/her field.
  • Takes in charge the turbo packages in case of breakdown until correct operation status.
  • Assists operation team in conducting the turbo machines.

Methods:

  • Identifies recurrent corrective maintenance interventions, analyses them and suggests improvements.
  • Keeps a critical eye on current preventive maintenance programs and, if need be, suggests improvements.
  • Warns support teams of any recurring problems related to the availability or quality of spare parts.
  • Suggests improvements and requests modifications.
  • Monitors the functioning of turbo machines, by following important parameters of the packages.

Quality Assurance:

  • Verifies the quality of interventions by frequent on-site checks.

Purpose:

  • He/She is responsible for the reliability and integrity of turbo machines.
  • He/She ensures that maintenance operations under his/her responsibility are carried out in strict accordance with COMPANY’s current safety rules and operating procedures and in accordance with standard industry practice, thereby guaranteeing the quality of maintenance operations, within his/her field, carried out on site by CONTRACTOR.

Profile
The holder of this position must have the following qualifications:

  • Higher National Diploma or Certificate (HND / HNC (A-levels + 3 years. study) or BTS/DUT or equivalent.
  •  5 years + experience in the maintenance or operation field on gas turbine.

Specific professional knowledge:

  • Gas turbine (Rolls Royce RB211/RT62 preferably).
  • Gas compressor (THERMODYN).
  • Ability to lead and motivate multi-national teams.
  •  Pride in his/her work, ability to maintain good relations with colleagues  and others.
  • Physical ability to work on offshore installations in the climatic conditions of the site.
  • He/She must have proven ability as a leader of small teams. Perfectly competent and independent in his/her field, he/she must show common sense and organizational ability.
