The U.S. Mission to Nigeria comprises of the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Facility Management Assistant

Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full – time

Duties

  • Incumbent is assigned to Facility Management (FAC) at the U.S. Consulate Lagos and performs all the duties of a security escort by monitoring and escorting non-cleared visitors and consulate personnel while in controlled access areas (CAA) or in other locations throughout all Consulate facilities.
  • Incumbent will also perform administrative duties of customer service for U.S. Consulate.  Incumbent works with FAC Residential Maintenance Supervisor, FAC Assistant Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (A/POSHO), General Services Office (GSO) Housing and GSO Property and Regional Security Office (RSO) Residential Security Coordinator to ensure residential quarters meet Department of State requirements and standards.
  • Some after-hours work, weekend and holiday work may be required.
  • Incumbent must hold a Top-Secret Security Clearance to access CAA.

Requirements

  • Completion of High School/Secondary School is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of prior experience in an office, management, or security-related position is required.
  • Good working knowledge; speaking, reading & writing of English is required
  • General knowledge of office working environments is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic keyboard skills and computer literacy, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite software are required. Numerical skills required for quick calculations of staff in cleared areas and notation in reporting is required.
  • Incumbent must be observant, flexible, and service oriented.
  • Must have the ability to perform prolonged periods of standing/walking and somewhat physically demanding activities to include climbing ladders, working in cramped spaces and at times working in inclement weather.

Salary
USD $33,878 per year.

Job Title: Travel Coordinator

Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full time

Job Summary

  • Incumbent will coordinate all USG official travel in the U.S. Consulate Lagos District and track all USG employee movements. Based on contact and open-source reporting, the incumbent will make security recommendations concerning travel to the Consul General and the RSO for his/her final approval.

Duties

  • Incumbent will communicate and coordinate with U.S. Government employees on all official travel in Nigeria and more specifically the US Consulate Lagos District, in accordance with mission Travel Policy and all applicable U.S. Government guidelines and regulations.
  • Incumbent will stay up to date with current threats via daily contact with RSO or his/her delegate, RSOs of other foreign missions, NGOs, Nigerian police and open-source information (newspapers, internet, television). Incumbent will refer to information gathered from contacts and open source when submitting travel recommendations to RSO. Maintain a weekly travel publication to be disseminated to RSO and section heads.
  • Coordinate with the S/GSO to ensure that GOVs used in support of official travel meet RSO requirement and are available. Incumbent will provide timely security updates and advice to Motor Pool and travelers and will coordinate with RSO staff if travelers become stranded and/or are subject to threat.
  • Track and plot employee movement and their travel routes. Prepare annual statistics for the Travel Program in Lagos. As appropriate, coordinate travel that affects both Abuja and Lagos missions.
  • Fill in as RSO-OMS during staffing vacancies, performing basic administrative duties as required.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • Two (2) years experience in an office environment is required.
  • Work experience in a clerical position is required, using the Microsoft Office Suite on a daily basis is required.
  • Frequent interaction with the public in person, in writing and via telephone is required.

Salary
USD $37,896 per year.

Job Title: Investigative Assistant

Location: Lagos

Duties

  • The Investigative Assistant (IA) assists in an array of sensitive and complex criminal investigations related to document fraud, human smuggling, trafficking in persons, and other criminal issues as directed by the Assistant Regional Security Officer- Investigator (ARSO-I).
  • The job holder provides investigative, analytical, and administrative support in the operation of the Diplomatic Security (DS) Overseas Criminal Investigations (OCI) program at post.
  • The job holder updates the ongoing investigations database in Department of State (DOS) computer systems, and controls access of sensitive information.
  • The incumbent must be able to obtain a secret security clearance.

Job Title: HVAC Technician (NEC)

Summary

  • The U.S. Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the HVAC Technician (NEC/NCC) position in the Facility Management Office. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA).

Duties

  • The incumbent reports directly to the Maintenance Team Lead/ Engineer Supervisor.
  • The job holder is employed as a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician to accomplish skilled maintenance and repair work at the journeyman HVAC technician level, to International Building Code (IBC) standards, throughout all facilities on the New Embassy Compound (NEC) to include office buildings, out buildings, ancillary structures, and residential owned/leased properties.

Education Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school and vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in the HVAC field is required.
  • The Incumbent will have completed a course of study covering the principles of HVAC, system design, system maintenance and troubleshooting, the various types of Freon and their uses, building pressurization, indoor air quality, and other specialized applications.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of journey-level experience in the installation, operations, repair, and maintenance of commercial or industrial HVAC/mechanical refrigeration systems and operation, maintenance, or repair of 100-ton chillers or larger, and large air-handling units is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • The incumbent must have superior knowledge, exceptional technical skills, and a thorough understanding of HVAC systems with an in-depth understanding of thermodynamics and how they apply to HVAC theories and principles.
  • Must be well-versed in HVAC controls including motor starters, thermostats, humidistats, variable frequency drive (VFD) motors and controllers, motorized and gravity dampers, and building automation systems and sensors.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of U.S. or IBC standards, mechanical / ASHRAE standards, indoor air quality standards, building pressurization, ductwork sizing and air flow principles, and fire and life safety codes.

Skills And Abilities:

  • The incumbent must have superior skills and abilities in the following areas: troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC systems and components; taking and interpreting equipment readings with various meters to determine system performance; skilled using all sorts of hand tools, power tools, and specialty tools typical of the HVAC trade to install, remove, update, and/or determine appropriate repairs to any component of a HVAC system including control sensors, controllers, motors and dampers.
  • The incumbent must be computer literate with good skills using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) software; able to apply basic math and algebra skills when sizing equipment; able to read and interpret construction and as-built drawings, and manufacturers technical literature; able to research the internet to find replacement parts for systems and equipment; and, knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and industry best practices to correct/resolve HVAC issues quickly. Must have substantial skill in comprehending engineering reports, specifications, and related materials in English.
  • Additional abilities include responding to emergency situations in an efficient and timely manner to effect immediate repairs; work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, heights, and temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors to complete work assignments; communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, contractors, and vendors to obtain and provide pertinent information. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to handle a large workload and multiple tasks. Must be organized.
  • Must have a valid current Nigeria drivers license and must have had it for a minimum of five (5) years.

Job Title: Senior Program Specialist, Monitoring and Evaluation

Duties

  • Under the supervision of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Data Analytics Branch Chief, this position will provide technical expertise to improve HIV/AIDS prevention programs of CDC Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH).
  • The incumbent serves as lead for clinical program monitoring and evaluating progress in program implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention activities conducted by CDC Nigeria and the FMOH by applying both theoretical and practical knowledge of clinical medicine, statistics, social and behavioral science, evaluation strategies, and research methodology to the design and conduct of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities.
  • Incumbent will develop appropriate data management systems to monitor health objectives and indicators for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs.

Requirements

  • MBBS (MD) or a terminal degree in one of the following disciplines: Public Health; Epidemiology; Computer Science, Behavioral Sciences, or Applied Mathematics/Medical Statistics is required.
  • NYSC Certificate/Exclusion/Exemption is required.
  • The incumbent must have at least five (5) years’ experience with chronic infectious disease prevention or treatment programs at the local, state or international levels that entailed responsibility for monitoring and the evaluation of program activities.
  • Experience collaborating with host government leadership is required.
  • The incumbent must also have experience in use of measurement methods required for M&E of international populations and health programs, including quantitative and qualitative research.
  • The incumbent must have at least one (1) year of supervisory and one (1) year of management experience.

Job Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of program evaluation strategies and techniques as well as infectious disease prevention activities is required.  Additionally, the incumbent must possess expert knowledge of the application of program management and the translation of evaluation data as it pertains to the improvement of program operations, guidelines, and policies.
  • Incumbent must be familiar with the health care system in Nigeria.  Incumbent must possess knowledge and understanding of the principles of organizational management and be familiar with the work of USAID and CDC.
  • Good working knowledge of overall administrative requirements, budgeting and fiscal management in support of cooperative agreements/grants is required. The incumbent must have vast knowledge of the working of host government as well as its program strategies.

Skills And Abilities:

  • Strong skill in providing leadership, direction, and technical expertise in the monitoring and evaluation of public health programs is required.
  • This includes the ability to resolve independently problems related to supervision of personnel, program policy, and program operation

USD $51,257 / Per Year.
