African Foundries Limited (AFL) was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million ton per year capacity for high-strength rebars and allied products.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Procurement Officer

Location: Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

• As the Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process and ensuring the organization secures high-quality goods and services at competitive prices.
• You will identify and develop best-in-class suppliers while overseeing contract negotiations and maintaining strong relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Your goal is to drive cost savings and improve procurement processes to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop best-in-class suppliers.
• Preparing proposals, requesting quotes & negotiating purchase terms and conditions.
• Preparing and issuing purchase orders and agreements.
• Monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues and concerns.
• Drive cost savings by lowering the total cost of acquisition through effective negotiations, value analysis and process improvements
• Establish and maintain good supplier and internal customer relationships that foster an environment of collaboration and trust
• Coordinate with project team & suppliers to shorten ordering and supply lead-times to meet project delivery timelines.
• Plan, track and managed orders to meet delivery requirements.
• Able to travel to meet vendors and suppliers as necessary
• Drive Productivity & manage Inflation.
• Closely monitor the fluctuations in the international market and propose the strategy for procurement to HOD for efficient decision-making
• Preparation of comparison table, evaluation against their proposal and negotiation with vendor for timely delivery with required level of quality of material meeting the expectations Technical Specifications
• Application to finance department for new vendor registration in the system as and when required.
• Ensure to follow the process of Purchasing documentation and ensure to file the documents for Audit compliance.
• New supplier development for alternate materials / current supplies locally.
• Submission of documents to finance department for payment like indent, PO and work completion certificate etc.

Qualifications
Education Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, or a related field.

Experience:

• 3 – 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management within a corporate or industrial setting.
• Proven experience in contract negotiation and supplier management.
• Familiarity with procurement software and systems.
• Experience in cost analysis, vendor evaluation, and market research.
• Experience in a similar industry (e.g., manufacturing, etc.) may be preferred.

Job Title: Metallurgist

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

• Conducting research to develop new alloys and to test the properties of metals
• Designing, coordinating, and conducting experiments to study the properties and characteristics of metals and alloys
• Interpreting data from experiments to understand the properties of metal and the effects of various processes on these properties
• Applying knowledge of metallurgy to solve problems in manufacturing and to improve metalworking processes
• Developing and modifying test procedures and standards
• Consulting with other engineers and manufacturing personnel to clarify or resolve problems, and to develop or modify designs
• Conducting failure analysis to determine the cause of metal failures and to recommend corrective actions
• Documenting test results, procedures, and recommendations for future reference
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, developments, and regulatory changes
• Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations and standards in all metallurgical processes and testing
• Conduct tests on metals to determine their properties and characteristics.
• Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports.
• Develop new methods of processing metals to improve their strength, durability, and performance.
• Work with other scientists and engineers to develop new alloys.
• Provide technical advice to engineers and other professionals on the use of different metals and alloys.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advances in metallurgical science and technology.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Work with production teams to improve manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• BSc / HND in Metallurgy, Materials Science or a related field.
• Proven work experience as a Metallurgist or similar role.
• Deep understanding of the properties and characteristics of metals and alloys.
• Proficiency in using scientific and analytical equipment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work in a team and collaborate with other professionals.

Job Title: Electrical Engineering

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Engineers/ Technicians are tasked with several key responsibilities that ensure the efficiency and safety of electrical systems. These include:

• Designing, developing, and testing electrical equipment and systems, focusing on safety, efficiency, and reliability.
• Responsible for planning, installing, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical wiring systems and equipments.
• Analyzing electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Conducting testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
• Performing detailed calculations to establish standards and specifications.
• Using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Comparing readings with the specifications, manuals, or diagrams by tracing circuits or components from the source to the load. Looking for signs of damage, corrosion, loose connections or overheating.
• Preparing specifications for purchases of electrical equipment and materials.
• Supervising or training project team members as necessary.
• Estimating material, labor, or construction costs for budget preparation purposes.

Key Tasks and Duties
In their daily operations, Electrical Engineers/ Technicians undertake a variety of tasks that include:

• Inspecting completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
• Planning and implementing research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
• Maintaining electrical equipment.
• Working with project managers on production efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.

Education and Certification Requirements
