We are a Tech Startup Launch – 1 EU Project / Client and 2 Nigeria-based projects.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Backend Engineer (Search)

Location: Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

  • Having a rich and robust search capability is crucial for providing our users with a great search experience so they can find what they like. Projects include scaling the search platform and improving the next-generation index pipeline.

What You’ll Do

  • Build search infrastructure (performance, reliability)
  • Design and implement Solr-based infrastructure that powers applications other than search
  • Troubleshoot search-related operational issues
  • Work with teammates to create appropriate metrics for measuring and monitoring search quality and performance
  • Develop tools to better support, manage and provision search clusters.

At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have

  • Proficiency in web application programming (OOP, Java/C++, LAMP)
  • Deep understanding of large scale distributed systems, algorithms and web services
  • B.Sc in Computer Science or equivalent.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Experience with Lucene, Solr or ElasticSearch, both for development and operations a strong plus
  • Experience developing real-world web applications; consumer Internet experience
  • 1+ years experience.

Job Title: Data Engineer

Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:

  • Architect and build core datasets
  • Implement efficient ETL processes
  • Build scalable and reliable data pipelines that process petabytes of data
  • Build tools and framework for data analysis and visualization
  • Propose changes to the logging structures or supporting new kinds of data analysis
  • Translate business requirements into projects and prioritize based on impact
  • Evangelize data architecture and ETL best practices

Requirements
At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have:

  • Proficiency in data architecture and/or data warehouse design patterns
  • Proficiency in database schema design
  • Proficiency in efficient batch and streaming ETL design
  • Strong coding skills in Python or Java
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive and Presto/Impala
  • Experience with workflow management framework such as Airflow, Luigi
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Superset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and cross-functional skills
  • A passion for understanding analytics use cases for data, architecting intuitive datasets to support these use cases and optimizing our methods of producing these datasets
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Experience supporting analytics teams studying user behavior and product metrics
  • Experience building analytics frameworks and tools with broad adoption
  • 3+ years of experience.

Salary
N350,000 – N500,000 Monthly.

Job Summary

  • We are looking for a very good engineer to build our data infrastructure, to drive stability, scalability and efficiency for the data ecosystem and build critical systems that provide insights to drive growth and delight users.
  • The right candidate can architect, implement, and be an end-to-end owner across a suite of tools that includes data pipelines, event streaming, and data warehouse/data lake.

Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:

  • Build scalable and reliable data infrastructure that processes petabytes of data
  • Integrate with big data technologies and workflow management frameworks such as EMR, Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka, Trino/Presto, and Airflow
  • Automate the process of infra operation such as EMR provisioning and autoscaling
  • Build tools and framework for data analysis
  • Create monitoring and alerting processes for the data infrastructure
  • Own service operation in production, including participating in on-call rotation
  • Working in a small, collaborative team with data engineers, data scientists, designers and product managers build an amazing data experience
  • Promote best practices and improve the quality of the internal data products

Requirements
At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Proficiency in a common programming or scripting language (Python, Bash, Java, etc.)
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry experience building large-scale reliable data backends
  • Experience with big data technology and workflow management frameworks like Apache Flink, Airflow, Apache Spark, Hive, Kafka, Kinesis, etc
  • Good understanding of Linux and Kubernetes, with experience utilizing services from a major cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and cross-functional skills

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with large-scale, distributed systems
  • Experience building analytics frameworks and tools with broad adoption
