Job Title: Senior Software Engineer (PHP Specialist)

Role Overview

• We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (PHP Specialist) to join our team for a 6 month contract, focusing on a client’s account in the e-commerce sector.
• In this key role, you will develop and implement high-quality software solutions aimed at addressing significant issues impacting business and individuals across the continent.
• You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to enhance the client’s technology stack and public-facing products.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable PHP-based applications and systems.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards.
• Collaborate with technical product managers, software architects, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into user-facing solutions.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including planning, estimation, development, testing, and deployment.
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior team members to foster continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to enhance technical expertise and drive innovation.

What You’ll Bring

• Expert knowledge of PHP 8+
• Strong experience with frameworks like Laminas and SlimAPI
• Deep understanding of dependency injection, middleware, service containers, and ORMs (Eloquent/Doctrine)
• Proven experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Exposure to GraphQL (nice to have)
• Solid grasp of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT)
• Experience with API versioning, throttling, and documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI)
• Database expertise in MySQL; Postgres experience is a plus
• Architectural understanding of Event-Driven Design, DDD, and Clean Architecture
• Confidence in writing unit tests (PHPUnit)
• Familiarity with messaging tools such as EventBridge and SQS.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Certifications in PHP programming or related technologies.

Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Location: Nigeria (Remote)

About the Role

• As a Senior Data Engineer (Azure), you will design, build, and optimize data pipelines, models, and integration workflows within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
• Your work will underpin our data-driven decision-making — ensuring scalable, reliable, and secure solutions that support business intelligence, analytics, and operational efficiency across the organisation.
• You will collaborate closely with our data, product, and engineering teams to design architectures that bring clarity, structure, and speed to how we use data at scale.

What You’ll Do
Data Architecture & Engineering:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Databricks.
• Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for ingesting both structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
• Architect and implement data lakehouses and data warehouses leveraging Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS).
• Implement robust data validation, cleansing, and transformation processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity.

Governance, Security & Performance:

• Partner with Governance teams to ensure compliance with data lineage, cataloging, and security policies (e.g., Azure Purview).
• Establish proactive monitoring and alerting mechanisms to identify and resolve pipeline or infrastructure issues.
• Continuously tune and optimize pipelines and queries for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Leverage Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights to track, troubleshoot, and enhance system performance.

What You’ll Bring
Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years in Azure-based environments.
• Proven experience designing and managing large-scale data architectures and cloud-based pipelines.
• Strong understanding of distributed data processing, data lifecycle management, and cloud cost optimization.
• Experience integrating real-time streaming data (e.g., Kafka, Azure Event Hubs).
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect (advantageous).
