To enhance human resource development in the Niger Delta Region, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is once again initiating its international Postgraduate Scholarship Programme. This initiative aims to provide young individuals with pertinent training and skills necessary for active engagement in the federal Government’s local content program. Moreover, it seeks to enable them to gain specialization in their respective fields of study, empowering them to compete on a global scale across various professional disciplines.

In line with its commitment to enhancing Human Resource Development in the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is initiating its Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Program once more. This initiative seeks to equip our youth with essential training and expertise to actively engage in the Federal Government’s local content agenda. Additionally, it aims to facilitate specialization in their respective fields, fostering global competitiveness across various professional domains.
The scholarship is open to eligible candidates with recognized Bachelor’s Degrees from accredited universities in the following disciplines:
- Biomedical Engineering
- Software Engineering
- Marine Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Robotic Engineering
- Information Technology
- Artificial Intelligence
- Mathematics/Sciences
- Medical Sciences
- Hospitality Management
- Law
- Architecture
- Environmental Science
Eligibility Criteria:
Prospective candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements to qualify for the scholarship:
- Must be a native of the Niger Delta Region.
- Possess five Credits at not more than 2 sittings
- Should have attained a First Class Degree, Second Class Upper, or Lower Division in their undergraduate studies to benefit from the Scholarship
The Scholarship
The value of the foreign scholarship will be determined based on the prevailing exchange rate of the Naira.
NDDC Post-Graduate Scholarship 2024/2025 Selection Process
- Initial Application: All interested candidates must complete an online application on the Commission’s website. Compulsory attachments include a recent passport photograph, Local Government Identification letter, Post Graduate admission letter from a recognized Overseas/Nigerian University, and relevant degrees from recognized Universities. Upon successful submission, applicants will receive an automatic registration number.
- Print Acknowledgement: It is recommended to print a hard copy of the online generated acknowledgement for future reference.
- Preliminary Shortlisting: Candidates will undergo preliminary shortlisting based on the following criteria:
- WASSCE/ NECO results
- Undergraduate degree classification (1st Class, Second Class Upper Lower)
- Local Government Identification
- Computer-Based Test (CBT): Shortlisted candidates will be required to participate in a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The test will be conducted by consultants in Rivers State. Candidates must score at least 70% in the test to proceed to the next stage.
- Further Shortlisting: Candidates who successfully pass the CBT will undergo further shortlisting.
- Final Verification: The final verification of candidates will be conducted through the Local Government Area (LGA) and Community Development Committee (CDC).
- Announcement of Shortlisted Applicants: All shortlisted applicants will be posted on the NDDC website (www.nddc.gov.ng).

Important Notice: We won’t communicate to candidates who were not chosen for the Computer Based Test (CBT), those who were not invited for an interview, or candidates who were not successful in the interviews. We’ll give priority to candidates from places where oil is produced, like communities or local government areas, as long as they meet the cut-off mark.
