ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) 2025 Overview

Launched in 1988 and funded by the Government of Japan, the ADB-Japan Scholarship Program provides around 135 fully funded master’s scholarships each year to talented candidates from developing member countries of the Asian Development Bank.

The program enables scholars to pursue graduate studies in economics, business, technology, science, and policy studies at 29 designated academic institutions in 10 countries across Asia and the Pacific.

ADB Scholarship 2025 Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the ADB-JSP fully funded master’s scholarship, applicants must:

Be a national of an ADB borrowing member country eligible for Japanese ODA scholarships
Not hold dual citizenship in a developed country
Be admitted to an approved master’s course at a participating institution
Hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a strong academic record
Have at least 2 years of full-time professional experience post-bachelor’s degree
Be proficient in English, both written and spoken
Be under 35 years old at the time of application (exceptions apply)
Be in good health
Commit to return and work in your home country for a minimum of 2 years after graduation
Not be a current staff member or relative of staff from ADB, its institutions, or partner universities
Not be enrolled in another graduate program or residing outside your home country
