How to Apply

To become a Pearson Scholar, you must be nominated by your school and apply for undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto. Consult your school guidance counsellor for the nomination process. Once nominated and after applying to the University of Toronto, you will receive a personalized, secure link to the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship application.

Pearson Scholars are students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, creativity, leadership, and the potential to contribute to the global community. Their breadth of interest, intellectual energy, and impact on the school and community distinguish them from other high-achieving students.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Pearson International Scholarship, you must:

  • Be an international student (non-Canadian) requiring a study permit
  • Be in your final year of secondary school or have graduated no earlier than June 2023
  • Begin your studies at the University of Toronto in September 2024 (students currently attending post-secondary studies or starting studies in January 2024 at another institution cannot be considered)

Application Process

The 2024 Competition opens in September 2023. To apply, follow these steps:

  1. Receive a nomination from your school. High schools not already contacted or verifiedshould submit an application to participate in the program. The application will be available on our website in September.
  2. Apply to study at the University of Toronto and complete your application for admission by the appropriate deadlines. Note that you will be considered for the Pearson Scholarship for your first choice of program at the University of Toronto. While you can apply for multiple programs, the scholarship will be restricted to your first choice at the time of the scholarship decisions.
  3. Upon receiving a nomination and applying to the university, complete the online Lester B. Pearson Scholarship application using the provided private link.

Pearson Scholarship Deadlines

School nomination deadline: November 30, 2023

Student OUAC admission application deadline: December 15, 2023 (It is recommended to apply before November 7, 2023, to secure a spot in popular programs.)
