Purpose of the Job

- Oversee formal funnel / pipeline management and diligence on proactive and reactive opportunities.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies and ensure that coherent and consistent strategies are employed in all serving and/or maintenance transactions and relationships within Lagos Island Region.

Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM or SHIFT
Purpose of the Job (Brief)
- As a Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Drill Operator you will be responsible for operating and maintaining horizontal directional drilling equipment in all HDD operations for the organization.
- Your expertise will play a crucial role in the successful execution of underground utility installation and infrastructure projects.
- You will collaborate closely with project teams, contractors, and local authorities to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations.
Deliverables (Maximum 5-6 key responsibilities)

- Accurate Borehole Creation – Skillfully operate HDD machinery to create precise and accurate boreholes for underground utility installation, ensuring alignment with project specifications and tolerances within the local community or region.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting – Perform routine maintenance on drilling equipment to ensure its functionality and reliability.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues that may arise during drilling operations.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule repairs and replacements as needed.
- Quality Control – Monitor the quality of boreholes and ensure they meet project specifications and tolerances.
- Collaborate with surveyors and project engineers to verify borehole accuracy and alignment.
- Documentation & Reporting – Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, equipment maintenance, and operational data.
- Prepare daily progress reports, equipment logs, and any other required documentation.
- Continuous Improvement – Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices related to HDD drilling.
- Suggest and implement improvements to drilling techniques, equipment, and processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Safety and Compliance – Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues, and other project personnel.
- Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate safety measures during drilling operations.
- Follow international drilling regulations and environmental standards to minimize the impact on the surroundings.
Demonstrate (Key competencies)
Educational Qualifications & Functional Skills:
Academic:
- OND / HND or University Degree in Telecoms, Engineering, Applied Sciences or relevant field.
Functional Skills:
- Proficiency in operating various HDD equipment models and manufacturers.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of drilling fluid properties, soil types, and drilling techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in diverse and multicultural environments.
- Willingness to work in locations across the nation and adapt to various work conditions and climates.
- Relevant certifications and licenses for operating drilling equipment.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
Work Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience with directional drill rigs
- Specific Knowledge of Civil Works planning applications with Nigerian Local Authorities.
- Prior experience as an HDD Drill Operator is required.
- Ability to work outside with variable hours in inclement weather conditions.
- Verifiable heavy equipment training and operating experience.
