African Foundries Limited (AFL) was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million ton per year capacity for high-strength rebars and allied products.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Inspecting equipment and conducting routine maintenance.
- Performing tests to ensure proper machine operation.
- Reading and interpreting technical blueprints and design schematics.
- Assembling, installing, and repairing mechanical components.
- Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions and operational issues.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Communicating potential problems or delays to the project manager.
- Following all safety protocols and work standards.
- Keeping an inventory of equipment and hardware.
- Continuous learning to stay updated with industry trends and advancements.
- Efficient disassembly/reassembly in line with productivity improvements and capacity planning (achieve the required efficiency and utilization standards for production – performance/assembly to build times)
- Support, lead, train and mentor others (including apprentices)
- Participation and involvement with Company Quality Procedure and Standards, ensuring timely identification, communication and recording of all quality issues
- Responsible for undertaking maintenance , repairs, minor improvement and extra works across the site
- Work on own and as part of a team carrying out routine PPM, reactive and minor repair works as assigned by the Workflow team ensuring all deliverable SLA/KPI targets are met or exceeded
- Communicate with the Engineering Departments when support is required to ensure all tasks can be achieved within prescribed requirements Indentify extra work requirements and provide details of required material and labour estimate to enable client quotes to be issued
- Efficient assembly in line with productivity improvements and capacity planning (achieve the required efficiency and utilization standards for production – performance / assembly to build times)
- Participate in any CIP (Continuous Improvement) activities, including workshops and discussion groups relating to quality, cost and delivery performance
- Refurbishment of Filling, Screw capping & Corking system/equipment
- Root Cause Analysis any form of failure or quality issues with the process of filling wine.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Steel manufacturing industries.
- Proven track record of successfully maintaining and troubleshooting diverse mechanical equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and consumables.
- Expertise in mechanical problem-solving and repair techniques.

- Updating AFL master layout
- Preparing technical drawing for machine parts
- Provide technical input to field technicians and civil contractors.
- Preparing architectural and structural drawing for building and offices
- Preparing technical drawing for manufacturing of damaged machine parts.
- Updating AFL master layout
- Preparing technical drawing for machine parts
- Developing product designs from scratch.
- Presenting rough design drafts for client approval.
- Ensuring product designs meet required safety and structural standards.
- Generating Solid and Surface CAD models using AutoCAD software.
- Creating detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models.
- Collaborating with engineering and design teams.
- Reviewing and interpreting project documents.
- Applying revisions and modifications to existing drawings and plans.
- Keeping up to date with the latest developments and technologies in the CAD process.
- AutoCAD 3D drawing and detailing -specifically Civil 3D Autodesk
- Create drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit
- Will be working on design projects utilizing AutoCAD
- You have rock solid skills working in 2D and 3D AutoCAD, and are able to comprehend how things go together and to visualize in 3D
- You will be responsible for creating construction drawings using the AutoCAD software
- AutoCAD drawing and detailing
- Perform architectural drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Revit
- Pre-engineer project development markets re-development projects for existing media programs
- Review the design and helps resolve the details not completely defined
- Provide the required level of documentation for custom or standard projects
- Provide technical input to field technicians and civil contractors.
Qualifications
- 3 – 5 years of experience in construction or Civil Engineering
- Proven track record of successfully maintaining and troubleshooting diverse Civil and construction.
- In-depth knowledge of Architectural drawing components.
