Job Description

  • The innovations team is charged with the responsibility of delivering business growth and recruitment of new consumers in the next years through brilliant execution of new insights that delight consumers and are compelling to trade partners.
  • This team plays a critical role in crafting the future of the business; delivering innovations that respond to consumer and customer needs, setting trends, redefining, and crafting the choices available to our consumers.
  • The role will be accountable for the commercialization of allocated projects in support of the Diageo innovation agenda in SWC Africa by building channel specific innovation and category execution guidelines and standards plus collaborating with the sales team to guide and ensure brilliant execution.
  • Establish competitive advantage through Innovation and customer marketing expertise, demonstrating operational excellence.
  • Ensure integration of Innovations into the commercial planning calendar, aligning with strategic objectives; develop commercial plans and collaborate to secure commercial alignments required for successful launches.
  • Drive flawless planning and execution through the Brilliant Execution Process, supporting transformational change initiatives; deliver the tools and execution materials required to drive world class innovations commercial execution.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of channel outlet profiles to drive commercial standards implementation. Leverage market trends and internal opportunities to develop effective innovation channel plans.
  • Leverage strong analytical skills to uncover insights, track progress, implement corrective action and deliver against business KPIs.
  • Tracks and evaluate point of purchase execution against well-defined scorecard metrics (distribution, visibility, share of shelf, merchandising guidelines, pricing, etc.) ensuring we deliver on time every time to our customers.

  • 3-5 years of experience in sales and/or customer marketing/trade marketing areas with a clear understanding of how sales organizations operate and how to drive its effectiveness.

Job Title: Reward Manager

Role Purpose

  • The purpose of this role is to support the business in attracting, retaining and motivating our people with a competitive reward package, clear and transparent reward principles, and great reward communication.
  • This role does this by partnering with stakeholders across Diageo to implement reward policies and programs and build reward capability.
  • This role is part of the global reward COE structure and will be a member of the Africa Market Reward team.
  • The role holder will partner with our businesses in some of the markets we operate in.
  • They will deliver against the strategic reward priorities in these markets across all elements of total reward (compensation and benefits) and be the key point of contact for HR Business Partner and Talent Engagement teams.
  • Alongside leading on priorities for Diageo in supported markets, the role holder will also be involved in broader Africa and global reward projects and activities with focus on West and Central Africa.

Role Description
Market Complexity:

  • As part of the Africa team, and with business partnering accountability for supported markets, this role will work on reward programs and projects that cut across multiple business units and countries.
  • This complexity, combined with a large group of stakeholders at all levels of seniority, means the ability to build great relationships, manage competing priorities, and to understand how to get things done in a matrix organization is critical.
  • With unionized populations in the organization, the role holder will lead on both the reward strategy and priorities for this group, alongside the strategy for the non-unionized population.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Take a leading role on Reward projects and activities for supported markets and engages with stakeholders to reach desired outcomes.
  • To be successful in this role, the role holder needs to build strong and effective relationships with Market Reward colleagues globally, Shared Services teams, Executive Reward, HR Directors & Business Partners, Employee Relations and Talent Engagement teams.

Responsibilities
In this role you will:

  • Alongside the Regional Reward Manager, drive the Africa Reward Strategy.
  • Lead, drive and deliver Reward projects and activities.
  • Deliver expert support, guidance, and recommendations across total Reward areas – including but not limited to benchmarking, salary management, job evaluation, merit budget planning, sales compensation, total reward communication, employee benefit management.
  • Provide analytical insight with commercial focus to drive ongoing and new compensation and benefits programs and participates in the design and development of new programs, policies, and principles.
  • In conjunction with the HR community, key member on delivering the Annual Reward Cycle (ARC) process for the Diageo population in supported markets. Ensure consistency of approach with clear communications.
  • Build reward understanding and capability in HR Business Partners, Talent Engagement, people managers and employees to enable the attraction, retention, and motivation.

Requirements

  • Relevant Degree or professionally qualified.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in reward.
  • Reward experience in West and Central Africa.
  • Experience with global populations and a unionized environment is an advantage.
  • Country experience: Nigeria (essential), Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Angola, SA, DRC, Ivory Coast, Zambia
  • Experience in working in a multinational with matrix organization.
  • Excellent analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to work with complex data and to draw insights and recommendations from it.
  • Ability to bring these insights and recommendations to life for a broad range of stakeholders in an engaging and easy to understand manner.
  • Ability to build strong and effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Proven commercial experience.
  • Can work well under pressure and to work autonomously.
  • Advanced excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver impactful communications materials and achieve clarity and understanding of Reward with varied audiences.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years + experience in marketing in IPS and/or FMCG/Luxury good categories.  Candidates should have had similar roles in peer companies.
  • Proactively Defines and Communicates Growth Opportunities: Takes the lead in understanding consumer and market contexts, identifying opportunities and threats for brands across short and long-term horizons, and effectively communicates these insights.
  • Consumer Insight: Actively seeks innovative methods to engage with consumers by delving deeper into their motivations and understanding their evolving needs.
  • Strategic Planning: Develops robust plans and briefs grounded in a comprehensive understanding of consumers and market dynamics, focusing on driving sustainable growth.
