- KPMG’s International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) Africa is a business unit within KPMG. IDAS helps address challenges faced by the global development community, by working with public sector entities, bilateral and multilateral development agencies, NGOs, philanthropic foundations, and the private sector on a variety of programmes.
- IDAS in Africa is currently looking for experienced and motivated individuals to support its business development and project delivery efforts across West Africa.
Job Description
- The successful candidate will lead our trade and economic development pillar, covering trade, the digital economy, SME strengthening, and youth entrepreneurship solutions across West Africa.
- The individual will be responsible to develop and deliver a portfolio of projects working with major institutional donors focused on resolving trade, economic development, and youth unemployment in the region. The role will require travel across West Africa.
Qualifications and Experience
- First Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, ICT, or related field. A post graduate qualification in a relevant field would be essential.
- At least 15 years’ experience with major international donor institutions working on trade and economic development issues, as well as the digital economy, youth empowerment and MSME development programs, preferably in Africa.
- At least 5 years of experience supporting the development of the digital economy in a number of African countries.
- Track record of success in writing proposals and winning engagements.
- Established relationships and networks with institutional donors with a thematic focus on areas such as trade, economic development, the digital economy, youth and entrepreneurship.
Skills and Competences
- Good communication (written and verbal), numeracy, presentation and analytical skills
- IT proficiency, especially Microsoft Office
- Team player with leadership capability
- Excellent coordination and planning skills

Job Title:Â Senior Associate, Ethics & Independence

Job Description
- The role will act as the initial or secondary point of contact for client-facing engagement teams, providing advice and guidance on various aspects, including risk management, independence, conflicts, compliance, and ethics in accordance with KPMG policies, principles, and professional standards.
- The successful candidate will help ensure the firm’s risks are identified, monitored, mitigated, and where possible, eliminated through the design and/or implementation of control frameworks, policies and procedures, and statutory compliance.
- The role is multifaceted and requires a self-motivated, resourceful individual with an eye for detail, good research skills, and excellent collaboration and communications skills.
Responsibilities
- Support with the development, improvement and implementation of the firm’s risk management policies, processes and procedures
- Monitor and interpret changes in independence standards
- Manage the Independence Clearance Process (ICP) including relationship requests clearance and initiation for ICP
- Manage firm and personal independence compliance process and administer the firm’s tool for independence compliance
- Provide top-quality guidance and advice to engagement teams and resolve queries on potential conflicts of interest, ethics, independence and risk management policies, procedures and systems
- Oversee the firm’s independence compliance audits and compliance confirmation programs
- Provide support on global risk review programs
- Maintain and update the firm’s risk register and ensure implementation of action plans
- Ensure controls on the firm’s system of quality management, especially with respect to relevant ethical requirements, are effective and properly documented
- Supervise the administration and delivery of relevant quality and risk management training programs to employees, management and new joiners
- Develop and deliver relevant training on ethics and independence, including the policies, communications and guidance
- Ensure the development and implementation of quality & risk management bulletins and other communication as required
- Supervise the administration of relevant Q&RM databases and systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum of Second Class upper (2.1)
- Relevant professional accounting certification is required – ACCA or ICAN
- 3-5 years’ relevant post- NYSC experience in external audit, internal audit, internal control, or risk management-related roles
- Certifications in the field of Risk Management or compliance will be an added advantage

- Support proposal and business development activities by leveraging relationships and working with the team to convert opportunities.
- Lead delivery of projects including financial analysis and report writing.
- Drive the development and presentation of final project deliverables.
- Manage the quality of engagements and the development of staff.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in project planning, execution and overall client service delivery.
Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant (Chartered Accountant or equivalent).
- Minimum of second class (upper division) Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
- Minimum of five O’Level credits (including English and Mathematics).
- Five to eight years external audit experience in a reputable accounting firm.
- Experience in corporate financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and financial model build.
- Strong commercial awareness and project management skills.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Appetite for learning new skills in a challenging and supportive environment.
- Transaction services experience in a due diligence, corporate finance, or investment banking environment will be an added advantage.
