Job Title: Corporate Development Officer

Location: Nigeria
Time Type: Full time
Reports directly to: Investor Relations Manager
Reports indirectly to: GM, Group Corporate Development

Job Summary

  • Accountable for assisting in the corporate planning & strategy process and designing & implementing the necessary mechanisms to track performance against long-term and near-term plans. Including identifying and prioritizing business opportunities, to help shape the Company’s strategic direction and drive organizational growth.
  • Assists in efforts to identify and establish viable opportunities to grow the Company’s profitability. Providing financial and strategic insights that helps the decision-making process and align capital and resource allocation within the business budget.
  • Charged with managing and tracking the execution of critical growth initiatives and projects of the organization as well as any other supporting tasks as may be required by the IRM and the GM GCD from time to time.
  • Analyzing financial reports, creating financial models, market research and strategizing on ideas to improve business operations.

Job Responsibilities
Strategic:

  • Assists in all activities relating to merger and acquisition transactions undertaken by the Company and in the execution of corporate finance led mandates.
  • Work on a wide range of strategic projects involving partnerships, investments into the company, and strategy for product and geographical expansion and be responsible for scoping, developing, delivering, and implementing them.
  • Assists in the development of a comprehensive business plan which articulates the organization’s pre-aligned targets and communicates outcomes/ recommendations to the IRM and GM GCD.
  • Reviewing of market & industry trends to develop business insights and evaluate the impact upon the organization’s current and future performance
  • Keep track of key developments as well as best practices to continually identify new ideas, tools and trends that could provide opportunities
  • Assists in the identification, screening and prioritizing of opportunities and in building a compelling investment pitch documents as well as comprehensive competitor analysis, including financial metrics and differentiation
  • Applies business acumen to analyze raw data, assess quantitative and qualitative trends across strategic market segments
  • Performs other assigned duties as delegated by the IRM and GM, Group Corporate Development from time to time.

Operational:

  • Serves as Project Manager/ GCE office Liaison on key Corporate Development & Strategic Initiatives Projects for the Group, corporate development, and the GCE’s office
  • Assists the IRM in executing the Group Corporate Development program and operating plan.
  • Responsible for the preparation of financial analysis and data for Corporate Finance (CF) initiatives and transactions. Serve as focal point on all Corporate Finance analysis and financial models’ development.
  • Develops plans, forecasts, and analyses for strategic initiatives and ad hoc projects, including new business lines/markets/products analysis, strategic decision-making in day-to-day operations, and other growth initiatives.
  • Monitors operational changes through ongoing contacts with company management, and develops corporate presentation and material based on these changes
  • Preparation of periodic project reports, tracking the status of all projects and issues encountered
  • Assists the various divisions in the preparation, and periodic updates of budgets and forecasts, and in collating, and interpreting results for Group leadership purposes.
  • Monitor key financial performance indicators of various divisions based on approved forecasts.
  • Actively manage various databases and applications including comparable companies and related transactions databases, treasury, cashflow and liquidity reports, etc.
  • Conduct financial statement analysis of target companies and comparable companies.
  • Conduct research, and where necessary, due diligence with regards to potential buyers/investors / takeover targets for potential M&A activities.
  • Provide project management support to the IRM as the need arises.

Job Specification

  • 1st Degree in Business Administration, Economics, or other finance related area
  • Minimum of 3 years combined post qualification experience in a finance related field (experience in Corporate Finance or investment banking is an added advantage).
  • High proficiency in financial modelling techniques. CFA qualification (achieved or in view) is an added advantage.
  • Clear understanding of financial statements and capital markets
  • Sector knowledge of the oil and gas industry, renewables and the minerals extraction industry will be an added advantage

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate business strategies and complex financial information clearly and accurately to a variety of audiences both orally and through written material

  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
  • High degree of independent judgment and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with flexible work hours as needed to meet required deadlines
  • Excellent Project Management Skills with the ability to manage projects independently.
  • Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail and a desire to produce top level results.

Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA)

Job Summary

  • The Personal Assistant (PA) provides time management and administrative support for the Executive office in Oando.
  • The P.A. primarily assists in managing daily itinerary by updating work calendar and scheduling/co-coordinating business meetings and appointments, business travel or other arrangements.
  • He/she also attends to the general administration of the Executive’s Office by processing all incoming/outgoing mails, screens telephone calls and visitors, maintains filings and other record management systems, and ensures general upkeep of the office.
  • He/she may also provide administrative support to other senior management staff of Oando.
  • Due to the nature of assignments, the P.A. is required to exercise independent judgment and discretion at all times.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Operational:

  • Effectively manages the Executive’s daily itinerary.
  • Schedules and coordinates important meetings/events.
  • Keeps an up to date and accurate diary and schedule of important Group/Company activities and events; updates the Executive on changes as may be required.
  • Makes necessary travel arrangements for the Executive and liaises with the Procurement & Services function and/or appointed Travel Agents.
  • Deals with telephone enquiries as appropriate on behalf of the executive.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail, directing to appropriate departments/personnel for necessary action
  • Maintains an effective document and filing management system for the Executive’s Office.
  • Processes purchase orders and expense claim forms for the Executive’s Office and for other management employees as may be directed.
  • Ensures necessary stationery supplies, office equipment purchase & maintenance, regular housekeeping etc.
  • Attends to private issues on behalf of the executive such as settling utility bills, handling domestic staff, banking & other private errands
  • Performs other assigned duties as delegated by the Executive from time to time.
  • Always projects a professional image for Oando, due to the nature of clients.

  • Effectiveness in managing the Executive’s daily itinerary.
  • Adequacy of administrative support provided to the Executive.
  • Level of professionalism displayed and quality of image portrayed of the Executive’s Office.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Good First degree from a reputable tertiary institution
  • 2 – 3 years /administrative experience within a reputable corporate establishment.
