The Federal University of Kashere in Gombe State was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2011 as a conventional University. The University is Information and Communication Technology (ICT) driven and currently has six (6) faculties, two (2) schools, an institute, a centre, 32 academic departments and 98 academic programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The Governing Council of the University invites applications from qualified candidates to fill in the vacancy below:

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Gombe

Job Description

  • The Bursar is a Principal Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the University.
  • He/She is the Head of the Bursary Department and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the financial and administrative control of the University’s finances.
  • Candidates for the post shall be visionary and have the ability to provide good leadership; possess personal integrity and administrative transparency in private and public life.
  • He/She must be able to command the respect and loyalty of staff of the University.

Responsibilities

  • By virtue of the position, the Bursar coordinates the development and upgrade of the University’s financial management plans.
  • The Bursar also coordinates the preparation of periodic income and expenditure, balance sheet and cash flow estimates and consolidation as required.
  • The holder of the office shall ensure that accurate records are maintained of all assets and liabilities held by the University and be able to monitor monthly income and expenditure and balance sheet variables against the budget, amongst other schedules.
  • The Bursar should provide the Management with appropriate advice on all the institution’s financial transactions.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess the following:

  • A good honours degree or its equivalent in Accounting from, a recognized Institution plus NYSC discharge or exemption certificate. Possession of a higher degree(s) is an added advantage;
  • Must be a qualified member of a professional body such as ICAN, ANAN etc;
  • Must have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of cognate experience, ten (10) of which must have been served in the University system;
  • Must have attained the rank of Deputy Bursar or it’s equivalent in a University and must have served on the rank for at least five (5) years;
  • Must be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with a working knowledge of relevant Accounting packages.

Duration of the Appointment:

  • The Bursar shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years.

Remuneration

  • The salary and conditions of service for the Bursar shall be as obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria.

Job Title: Registrar

Location: Gombe

Job Decription

  • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer and a Principal Officer in the University.
  • He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the discharge of his/her responsibilities.
  • The candidate must have a good understanding of the vision and mission of the University.
  • He/She shall have personal integrity, the ability to provide good leadership and be able to command respect and loyalty of staff of the University.
  • By virtue of his office, he/she shall be the Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation, Convocation and other Statutory Committees.
  • He/she is responsible for keeping all records of the University and may be assigned other duties from time to time by the Vice-Chancellor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Candidates should possess at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) Degree in a relevant field from a recognized University.
  • Possession of a higher degree(s) or postgraduate professional qualifications in appropriate field is an added advantage.
  • Candidates must have had at least fifteen (15) years post qualification cognate experience, ten (10) of which should be relevant to University administration.
  • Candidates must have served for at least five (5) years as Deputy Registrar in a University.
  • Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) with relevant management packages is also required.

Age:

  • Candidates should not be older than 60 years by November, 2024 or at the time of taking up the appointment.

Health:

  • Candidates must be of good health to be able to endure the rigours of the duties of Registrar and must present a certificate of fitness if shortlisted for the interview.

Duration of the Appointment:

  • The successful candidate shall hold the post of Registrar for a single term of five (5) years.

Condition of Service

  • The remuneration and other conditions of service are as obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the University Governing Council.
