The Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) is the first national institutionalized behavioral initiative in Africa supporting government and stakeholders to make behaviorally informed decisions and generate evidence for impact-driven interventions in critical thematic areas (Governance, Health, Gender & Social Inclusion, Education, Digital & Financial Inclusion). The PIC is positioned to support the delivery of better policies and innovative solutions for high-impact interventions across Africa. The PIC is an initiative of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), a leading think tank in Africa redefining evidence-based policy advocacy.

Job Title: User Experience (UX) Designer

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

  • Support user-related research activities, including methodological design, protocol writing, and qualitative/quantitative data-gathering activities
  • Use approaches in behavioural science and user research to conduct behavioural diagnosis on demand, uptake, and use of products, programs, and policies.
  • Use evidence to clearly define problems, analyze user data, and generate insights for problem-solving
  • Create personas through user research and data.
  • Use different creative problem-solving approaches to facilitate the co-creation of possible solutions
  • Design prototypes, conduct concept and usability testing, and gather feedback
  • Develop wireframes and prototypes around customer needs
  • Work with the innovation team to summarize insights into knowledge products including learning briefs, policy briefs, and other peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in Social and Behavioural Sciences, Marketing, Advertising, or a related field
  • Previous industry user experience research or playing a critical role in an innovation team
  • Proven experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer, or similar role
  • Strong interest in program and policy innovation.
  • Skill set in project management and research (qualitative and quantitative).
  • Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture.
  • Proficient in analytical and design softwares, including nortion, canvas, miro, and proficient in the design of journey maps.
  • Problem-solving aptitude.
  • Strong written and spoken communication, including the ability to develop knowledge products.

Job Title: Design Thinking / Innovation Specialist

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

  • Support the Behavioural Innovation Lab in designing and conducting ethnographic research, in person, and remote usability evaluations.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative to explore and evaluate concepts and experiences, analyse data, and interpret findings to make prioritized design recommendations
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and beneficiaries to co-create desired solutions- products, services, and policies.
  • Develop strategic reports and slide decks to communicate research findings, present potential design solutions, and use visually compelling presentations to demonstrate models and innovative solutions to complex social problems.
  • Other tasks as needed.

Qualifications/Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Social and Behavioural Science, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, or related degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience using human-centered design (design research/design thinking) research methodologies and behavioural science to solve social problems. This could involve product, service, or systems design and innovation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem problem-solving skills.
  • Core skills in using behavioural science approaches and frameworks for innovation.
  • Capabilities for user testing, A/B testing, and randomized control trials are essential.
  • Proven experience applying design thinking methodologies in the context of policy development.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with government processes and policy implementation.
  • Experience in prototyping, testing, and iterating on innovative solutions.

Job Title: Gender and Social Inclusion Advisor

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and expansion of a Gender Research portfolio within the PIC as well as emerging initiatives such as the Gender Summit and the Gender and Development Course.
  • Support the integration of gender-responsive and transformative approaches into PIC projects.
  • Provide guidance throughout the project cycle on gender issues across all program areas.
  • Deliver technical assistance to stakeholders to build capacity around developing gender-inclusive practices and policies.
  • Develop and keep PIC Gender integration strategy up-to-date across projects to ensure the incorporation of gender equity and social inclusion principles into activity plans.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on the implementation of project gender strategies to ensure compliance in all programming, planning, training, and activities.
  • Work with the team in the development, application, and monitoring of gender-sensitive indicators and the consistent use of SADD in reporting to better measure gender-related impacts and outcomes.
  • Assist in the definition of gender-related indicators and targets, as well as in the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative sex-disaggregated data; contribute to monitor and evaluating results against the indicators, to inform program and strategic decisions.
  • Support the development and implementation of evidence-based equity and social inclusion analysis.
  • Integrate gender content into communication materials (posters, scripts for radio or television, documentaries, and success stories), and integrate gender-related highlights and success stories or reports for donor submission.

Job Title: Research Specialist

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the vision and technical direction of PIC’s projects to ensure the donors’ project goals, objectives, and requirements are fulfilled.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, program/management staff, and study investigators and contribute to overseeing the operations of the PIC’s evaluation and research activities.
  • Develop and nurture partnerships with donors, other collaborating implementation partners, and key stakeholders at national and state levels to ensure efficient project implementation and utilization of results.
  • Work closely with the projects’ technical team to synthesize and disseminate key results, programmatic lessons learned, and other project outputs.
  • Oversee the documentation and dissemination of the project’s findings, best practices, and learnings stemming from various project initiatives.
  • Mobilize national research networks and relevant assets within and across partners.
  • Identify and promote cutting-edge SBC research, including quantitative and qualitative research and analysis.
  • Ensure high-quality research by contributing to the design and execution of research protocols and overseeing the implementation of research studies.
  • Develop innovative research approaches that will strengthen the quality of proposals and position PIC as an innovative research organization.
  • Develop new areas of research for PIC by expanding current portfolios to be responsive to evolving evidence and policy/practice gaps within the African context.

Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Minimum of Master’s Degree in Public Health, Social / Behavioral Sciences, Policy Research
  • 4 -7 years experience in quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed methods research with evidence of leading evaluation studies
  • Qualitative analysis skills and proficiency in at least one of the following: NVIVO, Atlas Ti,and other qualitative data analysis software.
  • Quantitative analysis skills and proficiency in at least one of the following: SPSS, Stata, Excel, and SAS. Knowledge of R, Python, and other quantitative software is desirable.
  • Ability to synthesize information, conduct literature reviews, write high-quality technical and research reports, policy and learning briefs, and peer-reviewed articles.
  • Experience supervising and leading research teams in all aspects of research implementation
  • Ability to work efficiently and commitment to collaboration in achieving results
  • Self-directing and able to use own initiative to make decisions and identify solutions to problems not previously experienced.

Job Title: Gender and Social Inclusion Lead

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the PIC’s Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) Program.
  • Work closely with program leads to support the effective delivery of GESI-focused activities across project cycles.
  • Lead GESI integration (principles, minimum standards, deliverables) into program activities and functional units including human resources, grants, operations, and others.
  • Work within the team to ensure that a sound gender analysis informs program design and management, as well as identify strategic actions to be undertaken to improve the quality of program implementation.
  • Lead the gender systems strengthening portfolio through research, information management systems, and sector-specific capacity-building programs for public, private, and development practitioners to equip them with skills to engage on gender and inclusion issues using a gender transformative approach.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relations with a wide network of partners, including government, development partners, parliament, media, and NGOs.
  • Assist in the definition of gender-related indicators and targets, as well as in the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative sex-disaggregated data; contribute to monitor and evaluating results against the indicators, to inform program and strategic decisions.
  • Deliver high-quality gender-related briefs and progress reports for a range of audiences as required.
  • Coordinate the Gender and Inclusion Summit activities, provide guidance, monitor progress, and ensure tasks connected to the successful delivery of the Pre-summit, Summit, and Post-summit are completed on schedule.
  • Oversee planning and proposal writing efforts for new business development opportunities and liaise with the PIC Business Development Team to produce technically sound and compliant proposals.
  • Foster internal and external relationships with a range of gender stakeholders, partners, advocacy organizations, researchers, donors, and government. Ensure the representation of PIC in gender-focused events as well as partnerships.
  • Design and deliver gender training programs and workshops for staff and stakeholders. Build out the Gender and Development course to expand reach, quality of delivery, faculty, and partnerships to ensure a world-class training program.
  • Act as resource person in capacity building, knowledge sharing events, and other relevant activities
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications/Job Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Gender, Education, Social Sciences, International Development, Public Health, or related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in gender equity and GBV program management, coordination, policy, advocacy, technical assistance, and transformative approaches.

  • Experience in planning, designing,and implementing integrated gender and inclusion programs desirable.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, experience in conducting gender analysis, and development of GESI protocols.
