Job Title: Micro Tunnelling Machine Operator

Location: Nigeria

Roles and Responsibilities

• Operate and control micro tunneling machines for the installation of pipelines under highways, railroads, rivers, and other obstacles.
• Ensure smooth operation of the tunnel boring machine (TBM) and associated equipment, including alignment, thrust, and cutting components.
• Monitor the tunnel advance, maintaining a steady and efficient pace to meet project timelines.
• Strictly adhere to all safety procedures, both underground and on-site, to ensure the health and safety of all team members.
• Conduct regular safety checks on machinery, tools, and equipment to minimize risks of accidents or failures.
• Operate MTBM systems for underground tunneling projects.
• Monitor and control excavation parameters, including thrust, torque, and slurry flow.
• Ensure proper alignment and grade of the tunnel according to design specifications.
• Conduct pre-operation checks and routine maintenance of the MTBM.
• Identify and troubleshoot technical issues during tunneling operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience operating micro tunnelling machines, ideally in pipeline construction or related underground utilities projects, with experience in handling machine controls, monitoring systems, and advanced tunnelling technologies.

Job Title: Inspection and Testing Specialist

Location: Nigeria

Roles and Responsibilities

• Inspect and verify the quality, specifications, and compliance of all pipeline materials, including pipes, fittings, welds, and coatings, prior to use.
• Perform incoming material inspections and ensure proper documentation and certifications are in place for all materials delivered to site.
• Monitor construction and installation activities to ensure pipeline construction complies with design plans, industry standards, and project specifications.
• Conduct visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) including ultrasonic, radiographic, and magnetic particle inspections, and check for defects such as cracks, pinholes, corrosion, and alignment issues.
• Oversee hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests to assess the integrity and functionality of the pipeline.
• Ensure testing procedures are correctly followed, maintaining a safe working environment and full adherence to regulatory standards.
• Monitor and document pressure test results, addressing any discrepancies and initiating corrective actions when necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• At least [8+] years of experience in inspection, testing, and quality control, preferably in pipeline construction, oil and gas, or industrial projects, with proficiency in the use of testing equipment and systems for hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing.

• Collaborate with project engineers and contractors to review and approve design documents, ensuring they align with commissioning requirements.

• Previous experience working with large-scale pipeline construction projects, including systems integration, testing, and startup.

Job Title: Underwater Welder

Location: Nigeria

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality welding on submerged pipelines, steel structures, and other construction components using underwater welding techniques such as wet welding or hyperbaric welding.
• Ensure welds meet the project’s specifications, quality standards, and codes.
• Inspect pipeline integrity and perform necessary weld repairs, including addressing defects such as cracks, corrosion, or other types of damage.
• Conduct underwater non-destructive testing (NDT) to verify weld quality and pipeline stability.
• Operate underwater diving equipment, including diving masks, helmets, suits, and other safety systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Evaluate terrain stability and identify potential geotechnical hazards such as landslides, sinkholes, or seismic activity.
• Provide recommendations for foundation design, excavation methods, trenching, and ground improvement for pipeline infrastructure.
• Prepare geotechnical reports that provide detailed site conditions, recommended material choices, and techniques for safe and efficient construction.
• Support the design of trenchless construction methods (e.g., Horizontal Directional Drilling) with respect to geotechnical findings.
• Develop and implement plans for slope stabilization, soil nailing, and retaining walls when required for pipeline projects.

• Perform soil and material testing both in the laboratory and at the site to ensure compliance with geotechnical specifications and safety standards.
• Identify geotechnical risks, such as high-risk fault zones or soil instability, and implement mitigating actions to ensure the safe execution of pipeline construction.
• Analyze seismic risks, environmental hazards, and their potential effects on the project’s geotechnical design.
• Work closely with pipeline engineers, construction managers, and contractors to integrate geotechnical solutions into the pipeline design and installation processes.
• Prepare detailed and clear reports, drawings, and recommendations based on geotechnical site investigations, soil test results, and ongoing monitoring.
• Ensure all geotechnical work complies with local building codes, environmental regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements

• A Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5+ years] of experience in geotechnical engineering with a focus on pipeline construction, particularly in soil and foundation analysis, with experience in Knowledge of geotechnical investigation methods and standards, such as ASTM, ASTM D-1586, and Eurocode.
• Must be certified in the following areas of competence: Registered Engineer (COREN) or its equivalent, Certified Geo Technical Engineer, ArcGIS certified user, Certified PLAXIS/GEO5/Settle3D user.
