After a very competitive bidding process, TICT emerged as the concessionaire of Terminal B, Tincan Island Port. Armed with a long-term lease agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria, and an unwavering commitment to continued investment in Port development, we are poised to position ourselves as a key industry player within the African sub-region.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Operations Manager

Location: Apapa, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Roles and Responsibilities
Shift Management:

  • Oversees the field execution of terminal operations during assigned shifts.
  • Ensures vessel operations are executed according to vessel plans.
  • Monitors operations at the yard and examination to ensure all scheduled tasks are completed adequately.
  • Ensures that equipment and manpower are available and correctly positioned to execute vessel and yard operations within assigned shifts
  • Attends daily operations meetings to align on the status of work for the shift.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Receives the discharge and loading plan from the planning section and prepare the vessel layout plan.
  • Allocates yard ranges for imports and exports per vessel.
  • Implements operational plans and procedures to enhance productivity.
  • Structures and establish goals and procedures, set priorities, and efficiently direct daily tasks of teams with consideration to safety, efficiency, lean methodology, cost controls, and efficient utilization of equipment and labour.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforces health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conducts regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory laws and organizational policies.
  • Ensures team members attend weekly safety toolbox meetings and adhere to safety rules and operations best practices.
  • Ensures vessel operations team members are equipped with personal protective equipment.

Terminal Performance Monitoring:

  • Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) and reports on operational performance.
  • Analyses data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Implements corrective actions to address performance gaps.
  • Completes required documentation associated with operations in an accurate and timely manner.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintains clear and effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Prepares and submits shift reports detailing operational performance, incidents, and actions taken.
  • Communicates vessel operations sequence and stevedoring requirements to subordinates.
  • Shares reports with vessel owners regarding the status of the discharge and loading of the vessel at regular intervals.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervises and supports shift supervisors and operational staff.
  • Provides training and development to enhance team performance.
  • Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the work of direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess Bachelor’s Degrees with 7+ years relevant work experience.

Job Title: Operations Controller

Location: Apapa, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Operations Controllermanages the activities of the function that serves as the central processing unit of the terminal operating system.
  • The incumbent will work with the representatives of various functions such as marine operations, yard operations, MHC, RTG, etc., to ensure that productivity objectives are met daily.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:

  • Cascades departmental yearly goals/performance objectives into the section/unit
  • Coordinates with the Head of Operations in preparation of a yearly implementation plan for sectional/unit goals and performance objectives
  • Puts systems in place to monitor and evaluate the sectional/unit plans and progress
  • Provides leadership and direction for the section/unit
  • Ensures synergy among all the teams in the section/units
  • Oversees and coordinates every activity of the unit/section.

Vessel Pre-Arrival Planning:

  • Request and receive all the required documents and plans (vessel plan) for the vessel from the planning team within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Follows up, monitors, and supervises all the teams (planning, yard, equipment) in the section/unit
  • Requests and receives the distribution of the yard operations – yard layout and allocation.
  • Oversees the process of yard allocation for the incoming vessel and exports plan, and barges in alignment with Ships’ schedule.
  • Liaises with Shift Managers to coordinate physical distributions of equipment through the managers (MHC, RTG, Plants, etc.) for vessel and yard operations ahead of vessel arrival.

Planning Execution:

  • Liaises with the shift managers upon vessel arrival to coordinate vessel and yard operations based on initial plans
  • Monitors the operations from the control room and provides status reports at regular intervals
  • Monitors productivity by publishing productivity data for planning reviews and adjustments
  • Liaises with the shipping lines’ planner for information update on vessel operation and disseminates it to all teams involved
  • Liaises with all other teams and stakeholders during planning execution to ensure all activities are properly executed.
  • Evaluates the work done at the end of every shift and reconciles it with the outstanding activities at the beginning of the next shift
  • Checks with the shipping line’s vessel planner and the vessel chief officer to confirm if every operation is in order before the end of the vessel operations within the intervals of 3-2-1 hours
  • Monitors the sequence of vessel’s operations in conjunction with the shift manager and effect changes where / when it is necessary.

Post-Execution:

  • Reviews all operations reports (vessel, yard, and equipment report) sent by the various teams that works with the control room to ensure they are void of errors
  • Monitors and follows up with the Yard and Marine Analyst on delays that might exist.

Team and People Management:

  • Attends to the welfare of team members.
  • Prepares monthly roster in consultation with other HODs and communicates it to relevant stakeholders for documentation.
  • Maximizes productivity of the team through the implementation of TICT’s performance management system.
  • Recommends appropriate training for team members to close performance & development gaps.
  • Supports the process of recruitment of team members.
  • Performs any other duties as required by the business.

Minimum Educational Qualifications / Certifications / Years of Experience

  • Minimum of HND or its equivalent in Supply Chain, IT, or Maritime-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of cognitive experience in a related role.
  • Certificate from the standard institute of shipping and Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt).

Skills and Competency Requirements:

  • Knowledge of ports and terminal operations (planning, vessel, yard, equipment, examination and control room)
  • Knowledge of the maritime industry (especially the shipping lines)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office tools, (especially MS Excel)

Job Title: Security Supervisor

Location: Apapa, Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Job Purpose

  • Maintains / implements the security procedures at all areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • The Security Officer has responsibility for punctual resumption at work and for conducting handover and taking over of duty with the Security Officer from whom s/he is taking over duty.
  • Ensures that all the Policemen, Security Guards and Lifeguards deployed within assigned Area Of Responsibility (AOR) equally report for work punctually and maintain presence and work effectively at their assigned security Beats throughout their tours of duty.
  • Ensures that the Policemen, Security Guards and Lifeguards deployed in his AOR conduct handing over and taking over of duty among themselves regularly and on a continuous basis.
  • Ensures that the Policemen and Guards in assigned AOR are equipped with the appropriate and functional security equipment for working effectively in the Terminal.
  • The Security Officer is to ensure at all times in his AOR that only Trucks with valid TDOs are allowed to queue up in the RTG Loading bays.
  • Incumbent makes sure that no driver or any other person is allowed to walk around the Terminal on foot in assigned AOR. Reports all offenders to the Security Duty Officer for documentation and sanctioning.
  • Gives accurate account of all Policemen, Security Guards and Lifeguards deployed and physically seen in assigned AOR and avails the data to the Security Duty Officer from time to time during duty-tour period.
  • The Security Officer has responsibility for ensuring that all policemen, Security Guards and Lifeguards deployed within assigned AOR as well as any other person legitimately found in assigned AOR are appropriately PPE-Compliant
  • Attends scheduled training sessions punctually at the dates and times assigned to his Training Group.
  • Participates in and sit for all ISPS CODE / PFSP Test that will be conducted by the Port Facility Security Officer, the Security Manager or the Security Consultant.
  • The Security Officer is to report all operational, security and safety incidents and occurrences to the Security Control Centre and the Security Duty Officer emphasising incident description, location, date, time, injuries or fatalities, loss of or damage to property, victims and recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Reports all security breaches promptly to the Security Control Centre and the Security Duty Officer emphasising; description.
  • Promptly conveys any intention to leave assigned AOR for credible reasons to the Security Duty Officer who will appoint and deploy a Stand-in FSS for the AOR before the incumbent Security Supervisor leaves assigned AOR.
  • The Security Officer is reports to the Security Duty Officer who gives directives and guidance.
