Established in 1999 as the Muslim Education Trust Fund, the Muslim Scholarship Fund Nigeria (MSFN) was created in response to the economic challenges in Nigeria that affect the education and moral standards of Muslim youth.
The tough economic conditions in Nigeria have made access to quality education difficult for many. Consequently, some Muslims have been compelled to seek support through other means, including adopting different faiths, to access education and secure better opportunities.
While the Universal Basic Education (UBE) program by the Federal Government addresses primary and junior secondary school levels, MSFN focuses on providing scholarships for senior secondary and tertiary education.
2025 MSFN Scholarship Requirements
To qualify for the MSFN Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be Nigerian Muslims.
- Be currently enrolled in or admitted to a tertiary institution or senior secondary school.
- Be actively involved in community volunteer efforts beneficial to the Muslim community, such as teaching in coaching classes, assisting the elderly, or participating in MSS activities. These efforts must be verified by a recognized Muslim leader in the community or school.
- Undergraduates: Have a minimum CGPA of 3.5/5.0.
- Secondary school students: Have credit passes in both English and Mathematics.
Eligible States
The target beneficiaries are students from the following Nigerian states: Kwara, Kogi, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Edo, and Ekiti. However, the program aims to expand its coverage to all Muslim students across Nigeria.
