Job Title: People First Community Coordinator

Location: Nigeria (Remote)

Position Summary 

  • We seek People First Coordinator to support the People First Secretariat in advancing the People First Community’s growth and progress over the next years.
  • The People First Community Coordinator is an operational and project management role.
  • It will work in close coordination with a wide range of organizations that are members of this effort as well as with staff across the Teach For All global organization, all of them supporting different strands of work and working groups.

About the Community

  • The People First Community is a cross-sectoral and globally diverse group of practitioners, academics, and public and private sector actors with a shared belief in the importance of prioritizing investing in collective leadership development as a path for sustainable development.
  • The People First Community is spearheaded by a People First Community Steering Committee and its Secretariat is hosted within the Teach For All global organization. This role will report to the People First Community Secretary.
  • This Community emerged in 2019 from a convening at The Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center and it intends to be a space for learning, thought partnership, and collaboration among its members, while aiming to raise awareness about the importance of growing investment in collective leadership development and influence the international development ecosystem.
  • For the next years the People First Community will focus on advancing the following priorities:
    • Clarify the purpose, values and vision of the Community
    • Explore and identify pathways for increasing investments in collective leadership
    • Build greater advocacy and awareness of People First approaches through stronger storytelling and seeking avenues to elevate our messages
    • Advance research that focuses on “how” to develop collective leadership for sustainable development
    • Continue deep learning on leadership development practice through People First Talks.

As a Coordinator of this effort, you will engage in the following and/or Similar Activities
Drafting and communications (50%):

  • Managing, drafting, and updating of People First communications across the board, e.g., to all members of the Community, to the Steering Committee, to working groups, etc.
  • Drafting and disseminating People First Monthly newsletters and other outreaches to continue growing community membership.
  • Conceptualize and draft external and internal communications and other requests, such as letters and email correspondence, talking points for external panels, etc.
  • Execute action plans that support the implementation and operationalization of the People First advocacy priorities.
  • Management and maintenance of People First platforms, website, and social media profiles.
  • Provide support to update and revisit core documents. 

Project Management, planning execution, budgeting, and logistics (50%):

  • Lead and prepare meetings’ agendas, actions and follow ups and other operational support for People First Steering Committee and Working Groups.
  • Operational support for current and future activities building on the above priority areas.
  • Community tracking systems and support the definition and implementation of internal working procedures.
  • Provision of broad administrative support for People First Secretariat, including scheduling calls, drafting meeting briefs, etc.
  • Project planning and provision of direction for People First panels, events and conversations led by the People First Secretariat or other Community members at key events, both in-person and virtual. Provision of technical support for virtual events.

Job Title: Global Lead, Participant Leadership Development

Position Summary

  • The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about leadership development and systems change to support our programs to strengthen their teacher training and alumni strategies.
  • This role is perfect for someone who loves to build community, develop training resources, facilitate trainings, and coach and develop others. In this role, you will focus on building the leadership of students, teachers and alumni as part of an agile, flexible team.
  • You will work directly with Teach For All network partner organizations by building resources, trainings and providing coaching and consulting support.
  • You will also collaborate with others internally to build and share insights and develop resources and will collaborate with colleagues from the research and measurement team who are working to develop metrics and tools to measure the development of leadership mindsets, skills, and other capabilities in teachers and alumni and to conduct research on the impact of our partners’ work on these leadership capabilities, the connections among teachers and alumni, and other impact measures.
  • Additionally, you will support internal Teach For All staff to develop skills and knowledge primarily in the area of teacher training and support, while also integrating leadership development and alumni strategy. This role will sit on the Collective Learning & Consulting team reporting to the Head of Collective Learning & Consulting.
  • The primary responsibility of the Global Lead, Participant Leadership Development is to support our partners around the globe to design and run teacher preparation, training and alumni leadership development programs that intentionally and effectively grow leaders for educational equity.
  • To do so, this person will create best-in-class learning experiences, resources, and tools and provide 1:1 coaching or consulting support to network partners in collaboration with other Teach For All staff.

Outcomes

  • Success in this role means that partner organizations have the necessary coaching, consulting, learning experiences, tools, connections, and resources to support the design and implementation of strong participant training and alumni programs that build leadership development skills toward growing student leadership and systems change.

Among other things, partner staff should be able to:

  • Have a clear theory of leadership that drives the design of their training and support of participants and their support of alumni
  • Measure the growth of leadership that happens as a result of their program
  • Have an engaged set of alumni working collectively for systems change

Responsibilities
Create Shared Resources & Insights (40%):

  • Identify and create knowledge products and global insights to share across the Teach For All network.
  • Leverage 1:1 coaching conversations, community engagements and learning experiences to identify trends and distill global insights

Lead Learning Experiences and Communities that Enhance the Effectiveness of Partner Training, Support & Alumni Teams (35%):

  • Diagnose needs and co-develop a global strategy for content, learning experiences, resources, and tools in the following topic areas:
  • Leadership development of network teachers via pre-service teacher training (in-person as well as virtual), informed by the latest insights from the Teaching as Collective Leadership work

    • Expand network teachers’ and students’ access to connectivity, hardware, software and other ed tech tools and equip teachers to effectively integrate the technology in their classrooms
    • Facilitate and curate global learning about how best to build students’ digital skills and leverage technology to accelerate student learning
    • Build connections between network teachers and alumni leaders in marginalized and diverse communities to the technology and ed tech industries to both accelerate the leadership of our teachers and alumni and to help shape an industry that increases educational equity
  • We are seeking a Global Education Technology Lead who will support network partners to strengthen their approach to developing teachers and leaders who maximize technology as a teaching and learning tool and build the strategic ed tech partnerships to support network access, learning, and contribution in this space.

About the Team 

  • This role will sit on the Global Partnerships & Resources Team which currently houses our global Educational Leadership, Education in Emergencies, Climate Change, Girls Education, Inclusive Education and Future of Work Initiatives, and supports the organization with programmatic partnerships and subgrants that support our broader work within these Initiatives and beyond.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:

Job Title: Accounting Associate, Finance

Position Summary 

  • To advance Teach For All’s 25-year vision and intended outcomes, we are seeking an Accounting Associate to manage key financial processes and operations, including revenue, global payments, bank reconciliations, month and year close processes, and supporting our grants making  function.
  • This position requires someone who is good at managing stake holder relationships and is detail oriented.
  • The 9-member Finance team, with its staff members currently based in India, Kenya, Belgium, and the United States enables the ~$50M, multi-entity, multi-currency financial operations of Teach For All. The team operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, striving for both strong controls and effective, efficient support towards Teach For All’s mission.
  • You will report to the Director, Accounting ; however, you will also work closely with other members of the Finance team, including the Senior Director, Subgrants and Contracts.

As the Accounting Associate at Teach For All, you will engage in the following and/or similar activities:
30% – Accounts Receivable Management:

  • Generate invoices to donors and working closely with the fundraising team  to collect the required back-up documentation
  • Draft AR invoices in financial system, and other AR processes including reconciliation of revenue across different systems
  • Liase with the fundraising team to follow up on outstanding payments

25% – Accounts Payable and Vendor management:

  • Manage AP processes including vendor setup and global payments
  • Liase with payment providers and bank to troubleshoot and resolve payment issues
  • Assit with  invoice reviews

20% – Month/year close processes:

  • Draft journal entries for intercompany transfers, bank fees, interest etc.

As the Ideal Candidate, you will Bring

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience and a working knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
  • Experience with cloud-based software (ERP systems, expense/invoice software, Salesforce/CRM platforms, payment platforms) is a plus
  • Intermediate-level Microsoft Excel skills required, comfort with Excel shortcuts and ability to operate quickly in Excel is a significant plus.
