Job Title: Manager – Costing and Profitability

Mission/ Core Purpose of the Job

• Responsible for the development of the various costing models for the Bayobab capacity and services portfolio.
• He or She will also be responsible for contributing towards the establishment and implementation of the costing and pricing principles and methodologies.
• The role will ensure that Bayobab improves on revenues streams by enhancing its competitive position in the wholesale business and international carrier relations business (for wholesale customers, OpCos and GEBU demand requirements) while improving its overall margins on new and existing business.

Responsibilities
Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA’s)
The Manager Costing & Profitability role will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

• Develop the strategy for optimizing and managing costing framework for Bayobab capacity.
• Develop and implement costing principles that will be applied to set the prices and other charges including price caps, price guidelines and other price controls for the various products
• Carry out all necessary studies, analyses and cost calculations with the aim of minimizing the cost of international services by developing relationships with 3rd party suppliers and OpCo’s
• Derive the pricing principles based on market trends and market analysis for price benchmarking purposes in order to maintain relevant price books.
• Align with the various internal teams, particularly the tax and compliance teams in order to manage issues relating to withholding taxes, transfer pricing and ensure full alignment to group policy.
• Identify the Bayobab submarine connectivity costs and pricing by analyzing the competitive environment from a global perspective and collating inputs from the OpCos on competitive offers received for international connectivity
• Gather OpCo’s terrestrial connectivity costing inputs, with focus on the wholesale components for backhaul and last mile from the cable landing stations
• Support in the sourcing of 3rd party connectivity when required, ensuring to meet the target price and quality requirements
• Provide support to the product management teams on product development and pricing as relates to multi-OpCo infrastructure
• Ensure connectivity sourcing deals afford optimal benefit to MTN and MTN’s clients, considering price, quality, SLAs and speed of delivery

Role Deliverables

• Costing Model framework for Bayobab capacity and services
• Costing and pricing strategy of wholesale fixed connectivity solutions (subsea and terrestrial)
• Support the pricing methodologies for Opcos and internal connectivity services
• Initiate and support Initiatives to improve margins on new and existing services
• Regular market analysis and price benchmarking in order to maintain relevant price books
• Constant engagement with Tax and Finance to ensure full compliance on group policies.

Role Dependencies

• Bayobab sales, technical, product and finance teams
• Bayobab OpCo and Group Enterprise demand management teams.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education:

• Minimum 4-year Academic Degree (Commerce, BBA, Engineering /Computer or Business Science)
• Post graduate qualification MBA / Masters (Economics, Engineering /Computer Science) preferred
• English, French and Arabic (as advantage)

Experience:

• 5+ years relevant cost modelling and pricing experience in the fixed line international telecommunication industry preferably in carrier business with a good technical understanding as well.

Competencies:

• Able to work effectively with multiple stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment
• Strong analytical skills to adequately anticipate demand & provide recommendations for decision making
• A working knowledge of business practices
• Knowledge of risk management and business development

Job Title: Engineer – FTTH Network Optimization, Fixed Broadband

Mission

• To support the network design and optimization of MTNN’s Fixed Broadband network, such that a cost-effective, scalable, dynamic, and robust capacity for Fixed Broadband network is achieved and a good level of service and network quality is sustained.

Description

• Optimize fixed broadband access network services on the MSANs.
• Plan and integrate all fixed broadband access NE, i.e., MSAN nodes, into the network.
• Conduct analysis of network model outputs and traffic patterns (statistics) to evaluate the model and propose solutions to network issues.
• Execute prompt provisioning of network capacity for all fixed network elements, features, and protocols.
• Monitor fixed network operations to conform to MTNN quality standards and NCC regulatory framework.
• Monitor and keep abreast of fixed network technology trends through workshops, conferences, and other forums to generate insights and intelligence to improve operations.
• Define the optimal network topology for fixed wireless network platforms in order for the connectivity of network elements to meet customer service requirements.
• Co-ordinate the effort, input, and output from relevant internal company departments to ensure that designs and plans are carried out timely and appropriately.
• Assist Marketing and Business development groups to carry out feasibility studies and capacity planning for new services and interface with the Interconnect team and vendors for the resolution of technical issues.
• Provide business intelligence using data analytics from field, vendor, and performance reports.

Education

• First Degree in Electrical / Electronic or Computer Engineering
• Fluent in English

Experience:

• 3–7 years’ experience, which includes:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialization, with experience working with others
  • Experience working in a medium-sized organization.
  • Experience in the Fixed Broadband Network Industry
  • Experience with FTTH planning, optimization, operations, and fixed VoIP exchange statistics handling
  • Technical Experience in the Planning of Fixed Network Elements
  • Good knowledge of IP and data networks, transmission, and fixed broadband technology
  • Experience with general FTTH deployment and cabling principles and last-mile customer solutions management

• Development and optimization of the internet edge, datacenter, and CGNAT firewall architecture Characterize and produce integration plans for data carrier service requests and ensure provisioning of bandwidth and all required internet upstream network resources in line with the organization’s service development plan.

Description

• Plan and design nodes, sites, and links within the national IP/MPLS Edge and Core Networks and ensure ongoing development to cater for new developments in the organization’s business plan.
• Produce a network convergence hierarchy, topology, architecture, and infrastructure redundancy plan for VPN service integration, regional service provider edge aggregation, and IP Core Transport via the multi-service backbone.
• Interface with Transmission Specialists and Topology for planning of optic (DWDM) backbone connectivity, capacity planning, and allocation for efficient transport of all internal and external customer data traffic.
• Plan, design, integrate, and manage the CGNAT firewalls to meet business mobile needs.
• Plan, deploy, and evolve quality and class-of-service techniques at the network edge and in the MPLS core network.
• Plan all internet upstream integration events, issue work orders, and control project processes for capacity expansion, node integration, and/or new service introduction.
• Conduct weekly and monthly network performance monitoring, trend analyses, capacity planning, and expansion in line with network growth trends and increases in traffic.
• Develop and evolve IP addressing, naming, and numbering formats for all network nodes and elements in the IP/MPLS backbone.
• Produce and evolve designs for integration and extension of IP/MPLS edge functionality to the campus LAN core at all IP backbone locations.
• Plan, schedule, and conduct site visits and surveys for accurate and effective network design, dimensioning, and integration planning.
• Plan, design, implement, and manage the MTN datacenter network.
• Produce weekly network trends, capacity utilization, and expansion forecasts.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in any relevant Engineering or Science course
• Cisco qualification: CCNP/DP, CCIP level

Experience:

• 3–7 years of extensive experience, which includes:
  • Experience in IT and telecoms, preferably on a large service provider network.
  • Experience with extensive systems integration and network design.
  • Understanding of high-capacity packet and core transmission technologies and products, e.g., SDH and DWDM
  • Working knowledge of IP/MPLS, QOS standards, and IP networking protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP, etc., segment routing TCP/IP
  • Voice Networking Telecomm Standards: ETSI/ANSI, VOIP, and C7 (SS7)
  • Working knowledge of CGNAT firewalls
  • Knowledge of IPv6 technologies and deployment.
