Job Title: Brewing Machine Specialist

Key Purpose

  • The Key Purpose is to maintain equipment in new condition, assuring reliable performance to standard through inspections and corrective actions to restore equipment back to inherent condition, problem solving to address root cause of failures and loop closure and provide input into the ZBB maintenance budget. Coaches operators in the correct way to operate equipment and perform autonomous operations.
  • Typically assigned to quality impact machines like centrifuges’, quality checks are carried out and deviations to standard acted on.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Health, Safety and Environment:

  • Comply with safety, health and environmental procedures and legislation
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards
  • Identification of unsafe practices through SIO’s
  • Safety inspections conducted
  • Safe maintenance practices audited
  • Adherence to PPE policies
  • Maintenance tools are in good working order

Maintain and repair plant and associated devices:

  • Locate plant, equipment, spares and relevant documentation and or systems.
  • Plan and prepare the job
  • Carry out repairs / maintenance
  • Operate workshop equipment

Work in Teams:

  • Communicate effectively in teams
  • Contribute to self and team development

Work orders complete:

  • Backlog
  • Generate tags for follow on work
  • Satisfied customers – no rework

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum NTC/ N6 Technikon qualification
  • National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) will be an advantage
  • Trade test qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Millwright
  • 3 – 5 years in a packaging bottling production environment
  • 1-3 Years technical mechanical/electrical and brewing/bottling experience in a leadership capacity in a FMCG environment

Job Title: BU Management Specialist

  • The Key Purpose of this role is to Implement, entrench and improve the use and effectiveness of VPO/DPO and Logistics Pillar in African Breweries and Vertical Operations to deliver business results.​​

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive delivery of expected business results through DPO/VPO with specialization in Logistics Pillar​
  • Implement the Logistics Pillar to deliver expected business KPI and means results​
  • Support Plants to attain VPO Logistics Pillar to achieve agreed plans and targets​
  • Work together with Logistics function and DPO team when Auditing Sites around Africa​
  • Be a deep specialist on VPO Logistics Pillar and also fully knowledgeable on DPO Warehouse Pillar​
  • Guide and drive Pillar implementation across Africa​
  • Monitor and track implementation progress to plan per Plant​
  • Train and coach Plant personnel on Logistics Pillar​
  • Analyze Plant KPI performance vs. means scores, previously identified gaps, agreed actions prior to audits​
  • Audit Plants, together with other Pillar Specialists ​
  • Agree actions with Plants to close gaps identified during the audits (in the Logistics Pillar)​
  • Track and monitor closure of actions by plants against agreed timelines​
  • Evaluate Plant KPI performance and means performance looking for examples of Best Practice​
  • Best Practices identification, standardization, and roll out. Escalation to Global when appropriate​
  • Test and entrench best practices using PDCA and SDCA and the standard DPO/VPO tools​
  • Document and track means scores and action closure​
  • Compile monthly DPO/VPO report according to the Global DPO/VPO Business Cycle​
  • Own and Maintain all DPO/VPO documentation​.

Minimum Requirements

  • Tertiary Degree is essential in a related field.
  • +5 years’ experience in Warehousing, Planning and Logistics management.​
  • Experience working in Warehousing, Planning and Logistics in a Plant or equivalent.​

Key Attributes and Competencies:​

  • Must have experience in effective implementation of management systems.​
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.​
  • Ability to foster effective working partnerships across business functions, specifically between Logistics and Supply, VPO and DPO.​
  • Problem solving ability to be able to guide Plants in developing actions plans to improve both KPI performance and VPO means scores.​
  • Experience in coaching and training and guiding plant leadership teams.​
  • Must enjoy and be effective at training and coaching.​
  • Ideal candidate would have appropriate experience and would have worked in middle/senior management roles.​
  • Frequent travel throughout Africa a big part of this job. Indicatively travel will vary between 20% – 60% depending on the time of year​.

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Machine specific experience
  • External Criteria: Technical qualification (N3 or similar)

External Criteria:

  • National Diploma or equivalent (External) IOB Certificate/Diploma
  • (Mech/Elec)
  • On the job training with a minimum of 3 months, SKAP completed
  • Min, experience within 12 months, SKAP completed
  • Experience within a packaging FMCG industry will be an advantage.

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates should possess minimum of HND / B.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 – 3 years relevant work experience as Utilities Technician.

  • Deep understanding of utilities plant, Process Controls and Automation, design, and commissioning.
  • Rigorous analytical skills and ability to apply them to complex problems.

Job Title: Packaging Maintenance Controller

  • The Key Purpose of this role is to Co-ordinate, coach and control the activities of the level one maintenance teams in the production environment and to provide specialist technical advice to ensure maximum equipment availability.

Key Role and Responsibilities
Asset care:

  • Manage all brewing electrical maintenance activities and lead a team of 6 employees across on day shift
  • Diagnoses and interprets problems (fault finding) to optimize production output and with own team carrying out the plant repairs
  • Responsible for the reduction of breakdowns in the brewing area by analyzing breakdowns, complying with the PM requirements and implementing Continuous Improvements
  • Review and Implementation of Planned Maintenance Procedures (Daily, Weekly and Monthly Checklists)
  • Ensures that service levels agreements are maintained at the required standards by carrying out all breakdown, preventative and predictive maintenance effectively
  • Participate in executing the department’s asset care strategy and ensure the machine performance of the brewing department is maintained
  • Coaches and develops the engineering skills of other maintenance and operational staff
  • Control and oversee maintenance cost against available budget
  • Ensure engineering standards applied correctly
  • Draws up, Coaches and develops engineering skills to other maintenance and operational staff using OPL and SOPs
  • Support Brewing Process Artisans
  • Coach Artisans on AWS.

Problem Solving and Decision Making:

  • Responsible for fault-finding and problem solving of engineering/ operational problems in the brewing area by ensuring that the appropriate corrective action regarding any deviation from standards is taken
  • Identifies the major engineering losses in brewing area and investigates using problem solving methodologies. (5 Why, Stage 1 etc.)
  • Review emergency works orders and initiate investigations and corrective action
  • Capability to develop and lead cross functional teams to deliver Business needs.

Safety and Hygiene:

  • Ensure team compliance with acts and procedures
  • Maintain 5 S and housekeeping standards
  • Ensure reporting, investigation, documentation and action of incidents as per the relevant acts and procedures
  • Promote safety awareness
  • Ensure compliance with special work permit requirements by own employees and contractors.

Administration:

  • Manage Level 1 & 2 team goals in brewing area
  • Conduct individual and team performance reviews and one on ones • Provide performance feedback
  • Lead all VPO initiatives in the department
  • Apply and sustain industrial relations initiatives, policies, procedures, agreements & core values QUALITY
  • Ensures that Company Quality Standards and are adhered to in the brewing area.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Qualification: National Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Millwright
  • Trade: Fitter and Turner / Millwright / Electrical
  • Maintenance Diploma would be advantageous
  • 3 – 5 years experience in Preventive, & Predictive Maintenance of concerned with production plant, involved in the day-to-day inspections, preventive & predictive maintenance and repair of machinery.

Key Attributes and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at various levels of the organization
  • Previous experience with VPO or other continuous improvement tools would be advantageous
  • Ability to prioritize and manage maintenance projects in a brewing environment
  • Good knowledge of sustainable development reporting would be advantageous
  • Good all-round knowledge of manufacturing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SHE policies and procedures.
