Who We’re Looking For

• MAKA is hiring a Senior Buyer to drive our brand and sourcing strategy.
• This person will work to deliver the right selection for our consumers’ needs.

What you’ll do

• You will have the opportunity to drive the MAKA brand portfolio.
• You will have ownership of sourcing new brands, negotiating the best terms, creative direction of your assortment, checking trends, whilst you manage the existing brands
• You will be responsible for defining category and brand strategy including budget and assortment planning.
• You will work cross functionally with other departments such as operations and logistics, content and photo production, marketing to drive sales and maximize profit
• You know the latest trends and are up to date with global and African markets, especially for Nigeria, and will travel to Lagos often (if not based in Lagos) to stay close to the customers & local trends.

• You have 8 – 10+ years experience working in Buying for fashion brands
• You are entrepreneurial: this means you have an ownership mentality, a drive to act and a strong work ethic
• You are scrappy and flexible enough to work in a fast-paced startup environment with ambiguity and limited guidance.
• You have strong analytical skills, mixed with a passion for fashion and trends
• You are a strong negotiator who builds compelling relationships with suppliers and brands. In addition to having strong existing relationships with brands and suppliers
• You have strong operational experience including a background in high growth and scale companies or management consulting.
• You have solid experience working in leadership, strategy and business development.
• You have been involved with recruiting and have a strong eye for top talent.
