Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • To provide expert commercial and schedule management for large-scale construction and engineering projects.
  • This role involves managing the project budget from inception to final account while developing and monitoring complex project schedules to ensure timely delivery within cost constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Planning & Estimating: Prepare detailed Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation (BEME) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for new tenders.
  • Contract Administration: Review and manage construction contracts, ensuring the company’s commercial interests are protected against liquidated damages or unfavorable clauses.
  • Valuations & Claims: Prepare and submit monthly interim valuations to clients; manage and negotiate variation orders, ensuring all additional works are documented and paid for.
  • Sub-contractor Management: Oversee sub-contractor accounts, from initial procurement and work orders to final account settlement.
  • Cost Control: Perform “Cost-to-Complete” (CTC) analysis and budget vs. actual reconciliations to identify and mitigate potential overspends early.
  • Master Scheduling: Develop comprehensive Project Master Schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project, defining the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Critical Path.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track physical progress on-site against the baseline schedule. Identify slippages and develop “Catch-up” plans to bring projects back on track.
  • Resource Leveling: Analyze labor, plant, and material requirements over the project lifecycle to ensure resources are available when needed.
  • Delay Analysis: In the event of project delays, perform Forensic Delay Analysis to support Extension of Time (EoT) claims and protect the company from penalties.
  • Monthly / Weekly Progress Reports: Lead the preparation of integrated monthly reports combining financial health (Cash flow) and schedule health (S-Curves).
  • Risk Management: Maintain a Project Risk Register, identifying commercial and schedule risks and proposing mitigation strategies to the Executive Management.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, or Civil Engineering. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Professional Membership: Must be a registered member of NIQS (Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors)
  • Experience: 10–12 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior/lead capacity.
  • Software Mastery: Expert proficiency in Primavera P6 or MS Project, and advanced MS Excel for financial modeling. Familiarity with WinQS or CANDY is a plus.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate firmly with clients and sub-contractors to maintain profit margins.
  • Analytical Mindset: Capacity to interpret complex data from site reports and translate it into financial and schedule forecasts.

Job Title: Asphalt Plant Mechanic

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Description

  • The Asphalt Plant Mechanic is responsible for the continuous mechanical integrity of the asphalt production facility.
  • Your primary focus is to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy industrial machinery, including conveyors, dryers, elevators, and mixing units.
  • You will be expected to minimize downtime through rigorous preventive maintenance and rapid emergency repairs in a high-temperature, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance (PM): Execute daily, weekly, and monthly PM schedules. This includes greasing bearings, checking oil levels in gearboxes, and inspecting wear liners.
  • Heavy Mechanical Repair: Repair or replace defective parts such as conveyor belts, rollers, chain drives, sprockets, and pugmill paddles.
  • Welding & Fabrication: Perform structural repairs and modifications using Arc, MIG, or Oxy-acetylene welding. Fabricate chutes or patches for worn-out steel components.
  • Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Maintain and troubleshoot high-pressure hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and pneumatic air compressors used for gate operations.
  • Burner & Dryer Maintenance: Inspect and repair the aggregate dryer drum and burner systems to ensure efficient heating and fuel consumption.
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and ensure all machine guarding is in place to maintain a zero-accident workplace.

Requirements

  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in heavy industrial maintenance. Prior experience specifically with Asphalt Plants (Batch or Drum) or heavy crushing plants is highly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expert-level welding and metal fabrication skills.
    • Deep knowledge of power transmission systems (gearboxes, couplings, and drive chains).
    • Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings and assembly blueprints.
    • Basic understanding of diesel engines (for auxiliary plant equipment).
    • Tool Usage: Skilled in using torque wrenches, dial indicators, hydraulic pullers, and various power tools.

Core Competencies:

  • Diagnostic Ability: Can hear a failing bearing or identify a misaligned belt before it causes a total plant shutdown.
  • Physical Resilience: Comfortable working at heights (on elevators/silos) and in confined, hot, or dusty spaces.
  • Sense of Urgency: Understands that plant downtime translates to massive financial loss and lost paving time.
  • Resourcefulness: Ability to perform “field repairs” to keep production moving safely until permanent parts arrive.

  • The Trainee Business Development Support Staff will work closely with the Business Development Team Lead to identify new opportunities, support the bidding process, and maintain client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily newspapers, government portals, and industry platforms for new Tenders and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Conduct research on potential clients, competitors, and industry trends within the Nigerian construction landscape.
  • Assist in the collation of mandatory corporate documents (COI, Tax Clearance, PenCom, ITF, etc.) for bid submissions.
  • Help organize and package technical and financial proposals to ensure they meet the specific requirements of the client.
  • Help maintain a library of “past project” portfolios and case studies to be used in future bids.
  • Track the status of submitted bids and maintain an organized filing system for all BD activities.

Job Description

  • The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the asphalt mixing plant.
  • You will oversee the entire process—from the heating of aggregates and bitumen to the final mixing and loading of trucks.
  • The primary objective is to produce high-quality asphalt batches that meet specific project requirements while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plant Operation: Operate the computerized control system (PLC) to regulate the flow of materials, temperatures, and mixing times according to the Job Mix Formula (JMF).
  • Quality Control: Monitor the consistency, temperature, and composition of the asphalt mix to ensure it meets engineering specifications and client standards.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform daily pre-start inspections. Grease, lubricate, and clean components (e.g., conveyors, burners, and pugmills). Identify and report mechanical or electrical failures immediately.
  • Material Management: Coordinate with loader operators and weighbridge clerks to ensure a steady supply of aggregates and bitumen and to track outgoing tonnage.
  • Safety & Environment: Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding dust emissions and noise. Maintain a clean work site and strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE protocols.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs of production quantities, fuel consumption, and any downtime or maintenance performed.
