Summary

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Operating and Process Control:

Operating equipment in Brewing process areas according to VPO standards.
Constantly reviewing process performance against target, and recording short stops and correcting any out of controls using the VPO tools.
Recording waste and movement of product on the appropriate documentation or information systems.
Review trends to identify & resolve problems.

Maintenance of Plant and Equipment:

Carrying out autonomous operations as defined for the process areas.
Identify defective plant, and report these through to the Process Artisan or Team Leader to assist with resolution.
Assisting the Process Artisan/Machine specialist in executing running repairs on shift.

Quality Control and Analysis:

Carrying out the required quality checks and analyses and recording the results on the appropriate information system.
The list of quality checks to be executed is contained in the work instructions.
React to the results using the VPO tools supplied.

Communication:

Actively participate in shift meetings, asking questions to test understanding and contributing suggestions. making use of the action logs to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities.
Fully understand the team Dream and contribute in achieving it.
Make use of relevant communication media (e.g. shift logbook) to stay informed and inform others of issues.
Complete required hand over to incoming shift team members, ensuring the issues relating to plant performance, quality and maintenance are communicated.

Problem Solving:

Where problems occur, use the VPO problem solving tools to resolve and record the issues.

Responsibilities
ZBB:

Support the implementation and drive the governance of the Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) with relevant stakeholders.
Monthly ZBB actuals & ZBB Champions initiatives tracking reporting and review.
Benchmarking across Plants to identify synergies and opportunities.
Responsible for actuals reporting in line with Control guidelines.
Provide early view on actuals of the month.
Provide actuals review and analysis during monthly deep dive meetings.
Deep dive in all new variance drivers, find route cause and work with the Plant PPM’s on identifying adequate gap closing action plans.
Partner with VOPS and Procurement directors on identifying cost impact on champion initiatives.
Perform Latest Estimate (LE) process for the BU for ZBB Supply and Procurement Function monthly for submission to FP&A & FD. Collate risks and determine if any savings are bankable.
Conduct annual ZBB business cycle for the BU for Supply and Procurement Function. Develop 1YP and budget base assumptions:
Combine recent performance and benchmarks with planned initiatives to build base assumptions.
Develop and continuously improve model at a comprehensive level of detail.
Track major project initiatives and report impacts to 1YP / budget costs.

Business Cycle:

Lead consolidation at BU level for Monthly VIC Actuals reporting.
Ensure BU adherence to month end closure checklist.
Own the BU routine for target tracking and communication to BU leadership.
Lead tracking and monitoring as well as consolidation at BU level for Champions initiatives and lead BU routines.
Lead BU Level PPM Dashboard compliance and adherence.
Support the PPM lead in setting up all management reporting for the BU.
Develop and maintain BU best practice processes related to report and insight generation and help standardize across the BU.

Responding rapidly to upstream or downstream triggers that result in stoppages.
Appropriate problem solving approaches, as detailed in the problem solving work practice must be followed.
Performing housekeeping tasks, applying 5s principles and following safe work practices.
Unsafe work practices must be identified and corrected.
Assisting fellow team members in the execution of their tasks.

Maintenance of Plant & Equipment:

Carry out in-depth cleaning, lubrication and inspection of machines according to the work instructions, and following the schedules supplied by the maintenance planner.
Carrying out routine maintenance activities according to the maintenance schedule. Where routine maintenance reveals larger problems, and the process artisan is unable to resolve these, it must be escalated to the team leader.
Taking part in maintenance and cleaning days.
This work must be executed in support of the maintenance support team and in accordance with the schedule issued by the maintenance planner.
Taking part in maintenance post mortems.
This must be done in support of maintenance specialist support.
Monitoring trends when conducting routine maintenance.
Where trends indicate the existence of underlying problems, corrective action must be Quality Control and Analyses taken.
This corrective action may involve the SBU, the maintenance controller or maintenance support.
When operating, the process artisan must carry out the non-destructive quality checks and analyses.
The list of checks to be carried out are contained in the work instructions.
Recording the results of quality checks on the relevant documentation or information system.
Where production does not meet quality standards the process artisan must try to identify and resolve problems using the appropriate techniques.
If they are unable to resolve the problem themselves, it must be escalated to the team leader for further direction.

Communication:

Actively participating in shift meetings, asking questions to test understanding and contributing suggestions.
Making use of the gap list to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities.
Fully understanding the team goals and participating in team goal review sessions.
Where FFA’s have been initiated, the process artisan may be asked to participate.
Making use of relevant communication media (e.g. shift logbook) to stay informed and inform others of issues.

Problem Solving:

When problems occur, applying the appropriate techniques (e.g. 5y, quick fix routines etc.) then identify and correct the problem.
Where the process artisan is unable to resolve the problem, involve fellow team members or escalate to the team leader if necessary.
Where problems have been resolved, verify that the problems have been eliminated.

Continuous Improvement:

Using run/control charts and trend analysis, to identify sources of waste and variation in the process.
Using short stop analysis, Pareto charts and other tools seek to identify opportunities to simplify activities.
Where improvement opportunities have been identified, these must be recorded on the team gap list.
The process artisan should involve other team members in evaluating opportunities and call in specialist resources to assist if required.
