Job Title: Area Sales Manager, West Region

Job Identification: 606

Job Schedule: Full time

About the Role

  • The essence of the role is to maximize revenue and subscriber acquisition (gross and net additions) opportunities in assigned territory through channel effectiveness (wholesale & retail), adequate recharge availability and implementation of planned sales & distribution and marketing strategies

Responsibilities
Achieve recharge sales target within state/area:

  • Ensure adequate availability of all recharge denominations in sub CP and retail points.
  • Ensure channel partners are making stock available and distributing to their network of sub-CPs and retailers to achieve ERC, RCV and E-pin target in agreed ratios.
  • Constantly identify opportunities for driving activation and recharge sales within territory.

Achieve Share of Gross & Net Additions (SOGA & SONA):

  • Ensure full-fledged achievement of Gross Adds targets by driving market initiatives in assigned area.
  • Effective management of direct activation teams and monitoring of CP bus activation activities.
  • KYC Optimization at Trade level by ensuring adequate and functional deployment of KYC kits
  • Drive KYC inactivity to nil
  • Deploy other initiatives to increase GAD including new site launch
  • Ensure activation of Quality GADs in assigned area.
  • Develop and implement activities that will increase SONA in assigned area.

Decrement:

  • Implement customer driven activities (product launches, town storms etc) in assigned area
  • Drive voice and data business performance by implementation of revenue generating activities and initiatives in assigned territory.

Channel branding and visibility:

  • Ensure appropriate and effective outlet branding is carried out in line with the “look of success” within the territory.
  • Identify visibility opportunities for Airtel brand within the territory.
  • Ensure ITP increases and gives impetus to iCMS and iRMS
  • Effective management of POS stock in warehouse to avoid damage, wastage and obsolete materials.
  • Train Market Developers on POS deployment in line with “look of success

Distribution Infrastructure:

  • Recruit appropriate number of Retailers- RSOs, SSOs, ERCOs in line with scientific distribution requirements.
  • Migrate all other retailers to become one stop shop SSOs and SSOs
  • Maintain ratio of RSO(5):SSO(1) in line with scientific distribution.
  • Maintain KYC infra ratio of 1kit:3 SSOs.
  • Identify and recruit suitable sub channel partners in territory for effective product re-distribution.

BTS Management:

  • Ensure constant CLS elimination.
  • Develop subscriber acquisition and other marketing initiatives to drive revenue in CLS site locations.
  • New Site Launch Plan and Distribution Preparedness.
  • Effectively drive and manage target driven initiatives and projects

Industry Awareness/Competition Intelligence:

  • Effectively report competitive activities within assigned territory and implement adequate counter initiatives.
  • Track on-going initiatives in Market
  • Address or escalate any unusual competitor activity and sale support that may be a threat to performance of the business

Qualifications
Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Social sciences, Marketing, Business Management, Engineering or Computer Science
  • Master’s in Business Administration or Management will be an advantage
  • Project management qualification will be an advantage

  • 4 -7 years of commercial/ business management experience

About the Job

  • The Lead, Demand Planning and Order Management role is responsible for forecasting demand across network equipment, devices, SIM cards, and service-related inventory.
  • This role ensures alignment between commercial forecasts and operational capabilities, enabling efficient supply chain execution and optimal inventory levels to support customer acquisition, retention, and network expansion.
  • This role is also responsible for ensuring on time issuance of purchase orders as well as OTIF delivery for various SKUs and projects to achieve overall efficiency and success.
  • This role collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and Logistics teams to ensure accurate forecasting and optimal inventory levels, driving improved customer service and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
Demand Planning & Fulfillment:

  • Develop and manage demand forecasts for mobile devices, routers, SIM cards, and network infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Network Planning teams to align forecasts with commercial campaigns, product launches, and infrastructure rollouts.
  • Lead the monthly Demand Review and contribute to the S&OP process to ensure cross-functional alignment.
  • Monitor and improve forecast accuracy using historical data, market trends, and predictive analytics.
  • Support inventory planning to ensure availability of all commercial SKUs and critical telecom assets while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
  • Analyze subscriber growth trends, sales vs activation patterns to inform demand planning for sim and devices
  • Partner with HBB and enterprise teams as well as warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely replenishment and distribution.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to senior leadership on forecast performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in forecasting tools, processes, and data integration

Purchase order management:

  • Track all POs to ensure on time delivery
  • ProjectWise reporting of open POs
  • Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide PO-related data and insights for audits and management reporting.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement
  • Drive on time payment for all fully delivered goods and services

Cross functional engagement and support:

  • Engage various business functions to understand their requirements which will further help to drive efficiency
  • Develop a win- win working relationship between Airtel and its vendors
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively, ensuring an inclusive approach to teamwork

Qualifications
Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field (master’s preferred).

Relevant Experience & Functional / Technical Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain management.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in forecasting tools (e.g.,Oracle  Excel, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with S&OP processes and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.

  • The essence of the role is to coordinate, control, manage, support and track day to day network operations in the Zone to ensure optimal network availability, coverage, maintaining target network KPI’s to deliver plus one network quality. Providing local network support for both the Sales and marketing team in the Zones to ensure that network impacting issues are proactively resolved.

Responsibilities
Day to day management of all Zonal Network Operations & Maintenance Strategic Partners (SPs) to deliver optimal availability and QoS:

  • Support the Operational Interface to both internal and external stakeholders especially Commercial teams to ensure customer issues are resolved within acceptable KPIs
  • Track Special events calendar with ZBM and Marketing functions and ensure best in class service during special events within Zone.
  • Track Zone Network performance (Various KPIs and Network Availability)
  • Ensure that special task/project required by HQ Technical is carried out in the Zone.
  • Closely working with E//MS Team to develop processes to prevent/reduce network failures
  • Track and ensure that Colo Partners deliver on SLAs
  • Ensure SAQ activity is up to date (Rental renewal and lease payments with Zonal Finance)
  • Support periodic audit of all Transmission, Core and Radio Network and preventive maintenance schedule audit
  • Follow up with various internal functions, MS Partners, Colo Partners on all issues affecting Radio Network availability, quality and experience
  • Ensure security and community issues do not cause delayed closure of sites
  • Advise and ensure implementation of preventive activities by MS Partners and Colo Partners in order to improve network performance
  • Ensure the adherence to applicable regulatory requirements
  • Audit and support Zonal spares management to ensure availability of both critical and non-critical spares at the Zonal warehouses
  • Probe network experience by doing a weekly trending analysis of the volume as well the types of complaints received
  • Ensure proactive and continuous improvement of customer experience and perception within zone.
  • Daily analysis of worst cells and follow up with MS partners on corrective and preventive measures.
  • Ensure power availability of all IBS sites that are not transferred to Tower Company.
  • Drive continuous Network improvement of own zone, drawing up improvement plan and following up on related functions within network.

Prepare and manage the annual Zonal operating plans OPEX (AOPs) for all the active and passive network systems in Airtel Nigeria (Financial):

  • Direct Annual Zonal Operating Plan compilation for Airtel Nigeria Networks
  • Direct achievement of Annual Zonal Operating Plan targets and all local and group Operating Expenditure saving initiatives to ensure optimization of all network investments
  • Ensure Key focus on recurring Operating Expenditure.

Drive the end-to-end process documentation, implementation and compliance to processes, procedures and policies to ensure seamless operations across all SP (Process Management):

Regulatory Compliance:

Partner Management:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Telecoms Engineering (Master’s Degree in Engineering a plus)

  • 5-10 years of varied experience in operation and maintenance in the Telecom industry

Weekly and monthly reports on customer activities, bill delivery and collection in the sector of assignment:

  • Report timely, of all initiatives, potential prospects, queries, challenges, call plan and new sales made in your sector every Friday 4.30pm
  • Follow up with respective Service Executives and Finance to ensure bills are delivered and payments received promptly

Revenue Assurance:

  • Encourage ALL existing customer to pay their bills timely to avoid barring.
  • Reduce debt portfolio and churn within sector.
