Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Locations: Bayelsa and Rivers –  Site & Head Office (as required)

Reports To: Project Manager / MEP Coordinator

Job Purpose

• The candidate will be involved in the planning, design, and execution of electrical systems in mechanical, piping, and process-driven projects.
• This includes supervision of site activities, ensuring electrical systems support fabrication, welding, and installation equipment, and ensuring compliance with standards, safety, and client specifications.

Responsibilities
Design & Engineering Support:

• Candidate will develop and interpret electrical designs and layouts for equipment powering pipe fabrication, welding stations, HVAC, lighting, and instrumentation.
• Will design power distribution systems, grounding, cable routing, and panel schedules.
• Ensure integration of electrical systems with mechanical and process units.

Site Installation & Supervision:

• Supervise installation of electrical systems for;
• Welding machines
• Heavy-duty equipment (grinders, cranes, compressors)
• Lighting and power points
• Control panels and junction boxes
• Ensure correct load distribution, safety interlocks, and proper earthing.
• Project Planning & Execution
• Prepare BOQs, technical specifications, and shop drawings.
• Support procurement team with technical input on electrical materials.
• Coordinate with piping, mechanical, and civil teams for sequencing and interfacing.
• Testing, Commissioning & Maintenance
• Perform loop checks, megger tests, and load trials on connected systems.
• Commission control systems for automated welding or fabrication machines.
• Maintain backup power systems (generators, UPS, etc.).

Documentation & Compliance:

• Develop and maintain method statements, risk assessments, and QA/QC documentation.
• Ensure adherence to Nigerian Electrical Code, IEE, IEC, or NEC standards.
• Liaise with consultants and client inspectors for approvals.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: B.Sc / B.Eng. or HND in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: 7 – 15 years in MEP, industrial fabrication, or construction projects.
• Certifications: COREN, NSE, or similar professional body is an advantage.
• Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and controls.
• Familiar with electrical safety standards, permit-to-work systems, and lock-out/tag-out.
• Ability to read P&IDs and work with Instrumentation & Control teams.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and MS Excel.
• Effective leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Job Summary

• The Project Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and resource availability.
• The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to track progress, identify potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and work breakdown structures.
• Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project progress data.
• Monitor project performance and progress against baseline schedules and report variances.
• Prepare weekly and monthly project progress reports for management.
• Identify schedule risks and propose mitigation plans.
• Assist in resource planning and allocation to ensure timely project delivery.
• Update and maintain project planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, or other scheduling software).
• Support the project team in claims preparation and extension of time analysis.
• Ensure all planning documents and reports are properly documented and archived.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 7years’ experience in project planning/scheduling (preferably in MEP, construction, or oil & gas projects).
• Proficiency in planning software (Primavera P6/MS Project).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting abilities.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.

Salary
N500,000 – N800,000 Monthly.

• We are currently looking to fill the position of a Mechanical Design Engineer with 7 – 15 years’ experience who is specialized in VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) and HVAC systems and will be responsible for the design, planning, and development of efficient climate control systems to join our dynamic team.
• This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, energy efficiency, and coordination with other engineering disciplines. Below is a detailed job profile for this position:

Key Responsibilities
Design and Engineering of VRF and HVAC Systems:

• Develop detailed designs for VRF and HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance and energy efficiency.
• Perform load calculations, heat transfer analysis, and airflow design to meet project requirements.
• Use design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or specialized HVAC design tools to create schematic designs and layouts.

System Integration and Coordination:

• Ensure seamless integration of VRF systems with other building services, such as electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Coordinate with other MEP disciplines, architects, and contractors to ensure that the mechanical designs are compatible with overall building architecture and construction.

Equipment Selection:

• Select appropriate HVAC and VRF equipment, such as indoor/outdoor units, compressors, heat exchangers, and ductwork.
• Consider energy efficiency, cost, and compatibility with the building’s mechanical systems during equipment selection.

Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:

• Design energy-efficient VRF and HVAC systems that meet environmental standards and energy codes (such as LEED or ASHRAE).
• Focus on reducing the building’s overall energy consumption and carbon footprint through innovative and sustainable design solutions.

Load Calculation and Simulation:

• Conduct cooling and heating load calculations for various building zones to ensure proper system sizing and distribution.
• Perform energy modeling and simulations to predict system performance under different conditions and ensure compliance with energy codes.

Documentation and Compliance:

• Prepare detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and system layouts.
